The agriturismo
The Mendicino agriturismo is a place where you can spend a day or your entire holidays basking in the green of the lush olive tree foliage in total peace and quiet to enjoy the flavours of the diligently prepared simple, traditional dishes. Guests here are welcomed in a family atmosphere where they can spend pleasant days trying out the flavours of local tradition and really wind down.
The accommodation
The agriturismo is located in Falerna, province of Catanzaro, in the middle of olive groves, vineyards and orchards (figs, plums, peaches etc.). Guests are accommodated in six rooms equipped with all comforts. Guests can also eat at a restaurant that prepares typical local dishes.
Apart from being a place for a pleasurable stay, walks through lush green surroundings and convivial get-togethers, the agriturismo also offers its guests the possibility of finding out more about the various activities of country life, such as: picking figs, vegetables, grape harvesting and when the olives are picked, sessions to taste the new oil – experiences for old and young alike, to find out more about country life.
The dishes prepared in the agriturismo restaurant are the typical local and regional cuisine. The products are grown or raised in an all-natural way. Guests can select from lots of meals, including: tripe with “diunelle”, pasta and beans (with and without pork rind), orecchiette pasta with turnip greens and homemade fresh pasta, lamb, chicken, pork ribs, sausage, oven baked or grilled bacon – all accompanied by seasonal vegetables.
And we mustn’t forget the specialty conserves and pickles, soppressate (cured dry salami), capicolli (cold cut made from pork), typical salamis, crushed olives, various types of pizza, “Jette e Crucette” figs, prepared and preserved during summer using the same method as in the past, and of course, last but not least the homemade sweets; like jam tarts, orange cake, mostaccioli biscuits, cuzzupe cake, fraguni savoury cheese bread and bucunotti chocolate and almond biscuits during the Easter period plus lots, lots more.
