The agriturismo
In the heart of the Madonie Park, 3 km from the town of Polizzi Generosa, lies the small family-run organic farm.
In the valley of hazelnuts, in an old villa dating back to the late 18th century, guests can spend their holidays in contact with nature surrounded by unspoilt landscapes and flavours that are now rare, in an exclusive, yet affordable setting.
The accommodation
The agriturismo is on two floors: upstairs is the owners’ home, while downstairs, once used as storerooms for the hazelnuts and the sharecropper’s home, there is now a small apartment, consisting of 2 rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen; one double room with bathroom; a communal room and the kitchens.
An outbuilding, once home to the barn, now has 2 rooms with bathroom, including one for disabled guests.
The restaurant is for guests only, and mainly uses produce grown on the farm or from the local area.
The farm, which has been organic since 2001, produces vegetables including the “Badda” bean, a variety that stands out for its taste, characteristic round shape and black and white colour. Hazelnuts, age-old fruit-bearing trees and olive plants are also cultivated. The farm is also home to pets and farmyard animals, as well as horses with which guests can go riding along the parks trails and around the farm.
Activities and surrounding
During the year, guests can help out with farm work such as pruning and harvesting nuts and beans. On the farm, there are 3 horses with which guests can go riding along the trails in the Madonie Park.
On request, guided tours can be organised along trails within the park, in the valley of hazelnuts and mills and in the towns in the Madonie area.
The agriturismo is about 20 minutes from the ski resort of Piano Battaglia, about 30 minutes from the sea in Campofelice and 40 minutes from the town of Cefalù.
Various courses for which a fee is payable such as yoga, survival techniques and astrology are organised by the Sicilian Vero Tour association at the agriturismo.
