Via San Rocco n. 7 , AGLIONI 67014 Capitignano (L'Aquila) Code
In the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga, the farm holiday includes three 18th century rural buildings located in an old mountain village with 10 hectares of land for agriculture, forestry and pastoral use.
Here the Commentucci family, driven by a deep passion for farm lifestyle, and the desire to continue the family tradition carries on the business with the objective of keeping alive the values, moments, feelings and tastes from the past.
The rooms, the restaurant, the workshops in which the products are processed, and the two wood-burning ovens in which bread and cakes are cooked, are located in the small village of Aglioni di Capitignano.
The accommodation are spread-out amongst the village: 6 rooms (19 beds) all with independent entrance and en-suite bathroom, furnished with rustic period pieces.
The restaurant is located in a chestnut wooden chalet with large windows overlooking the pleasant and relaxing garden, botanical garden, orchard and animal fences, all surrounded by woods and mountains.
Here you can taste the traditional local dishes prepared from the farm own products based on old peasant recipes.
In the land are cultivated legumes, cereals, vegetables and fruits – including some old and rare varieties of seeds that the farm is committed to preserve – and are raised (on a small scale) donkeys, horses, chickens, hens, rabbits, sheep and pigs. Tourists and visitors interested in taking an active part in rural life are welcome to join family members to participate in the care of the animals, sowing, harvesting and product processing, etc.
The village of Aglioni is situated 900 m above sea level in a valley part of the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga, rich with natural ad historical treasures.
The surrounding mountains are perfect for hiking, walking and riding using the horse and donkeys from the farm. If required, there is a riding school just 2 km away.
The farm holiday also organizes courses to learn some of the traditional gastronomic and handcrafting skills typical of the area (farmers' bread, baskets, naural soaps, use of the herbs, etc.), as farm activities based on direct experience of nature and rural life for children, families and adults.
Finally, the farm collaborates with musicians, poets and other artists to organize events that help to preserve and enhance the rural culture.

I have been managing La Canestra since 1996 along with my family.
We take care of: we cook for the guests, we take care of the crops, we rear the animals.
It was a desire to to live in nature which led me to run an agriturismo.
Our guests especially appreciate the food.
