The agriturismo
On a 35 hectarewine farm nestled between two chains of hills surrounding a small lake, the agriturismo comprises several renovated farm buildings: an old stone farmhouse, a cottage with a wood burning oven, a well, the stables and the tool store.
A terrace extends into the vineyard, offering scenic views of Parma and the Po plain. In the background you'll see the outline of the Felino Castle, the Apennines and, on clear days, even the Alps.
The accommodation
The agriturismo provides guest accommodation in 4 rooms with bathrooms, TV and internet, each named after one of the 4 grape varieties most commonly grown in the Parma region: Malvasia, a double with views of Parma, the vines and the Alps, Lambrusco and Barbera, a single and a double respectively with views of the Casatico hills, and Bonarda, a double with views of the Apennines.
The agriturismo’s restaurant seats up to 50 guests and also comprises an enclosed veranda with large windows. In summer, guests can also dine outdoors.
Activities and surrounding
Just 20 minutes takes you to the centre of Parma, where you'll find a host of stunning monuments, from the cathedral and the baptistery on Piazza Duomo, to the churches of San Giovanni Evangelista and the Madonna della Steccata, and historic palazzos home to works by Caravaggio, Parmigianino, Leonardo, Tiepolo, Canaletto… Nearby, you can also visit the Castles of the Duchy of Parma, the “Luoghi Verdiani” (the places Giuseppe Verdi lived and visited), the Cento Laghi Park and the CAI (Club Alpino Italiano, Italian Alpine Club) trekking routes, as well as following trails to discover the Prosciutto and Wine of the Parma Hills, the Porcini Mushrooms of Borgotaro and the Culatello ham of Zibello.
60 km of trails start from the farm itself, and guests can take part in excursions and classes offered in collaboration with Italian Mountain Biking School "Les Grandes Randonnées ASD Torrechiara". The agriturismo works in partnership with a local riding school, with the possibility of discounts for guests on a selection of activities, and there are also snowshoes for hire in winter.
