The agriturismo
The farm is working towards organic certification, producing and transforming aromatic medicinal herbs, as well as growing a selection of endangered fruits, in partnership with the CRA Fru Research Centre for Fruit. Erba Regina is located in Frascati, in the stunning landscape of the Roman Hills.
The agriturismo is also part of an educational farm which works in partnership with the Tor Vergata University botanic vegetable gardens.
The accommodation
The old rural buildings (the stables, patio, portico, rabbit hutches and hayloft) have all been conservatively renovated. Guest accommodation is provided in 10 rooms, 7 with independent access from the garden and private outdoor space, and two of which are accessible to disabled guests.
All rooms comprise fridges, safes, air conditioning, kettles for preparing herbal teas, WiFi and TVs.
The restaurant, which caters mainly for agriturismo guests, uses many of the farm’s own ingredients, including wild plants (alimurgic cuisine). You’ll also find a small herbal tea room with homemade cakes and biscotti, as well as a meeting room.
The agriturismo works with local associations for social inclusion, and service users are often present. A large botanic vegetable garden showcases all of the estate’s produce.
You’ll also find ample private parking, and a shuttle service for guests.
Activities and surrounding
A variety of musical and cultural events take place each fortnight during the summer months, usually outdoors. You can enjoy classes on herbs and their transformation, cookery lessons, or find out how to make soap, creams, macerates, liqueurs and pâté.
The estate is located on the slopes of the Vulcano Laziale. Nearby you’ll find local roads for running and cycling. You can also visit the region’s wine cellars, follow signposted trails to riding centres or hire bicycles for exploring.
The agriturismo is close to the Monteporzio Catone motorway toll and the Tor Vergata train station, a 15 minute trip from Roma Termini.
