Agriturismo Tenuta La Torraccia

The property, located near Orte, on the border between Lazio and Umbria, is nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by 200 hectares of woods, hills overlooking the Tiber valley, hazelnut and olive groves. The farm takes its name from the ancient tower of the 15th century, which stands next to the structure. Since the 17^th century the Tower has been called as “Turriani’s Castle” or “Milanesi’s tower” by people of the neighbouring areas, because of the surname of the family originating of Milan. In fact a branch of the noble family of Turriani of Valsassina became member of Orte community after have dominated the city of  Milan in competition with the Visconti family in the 13^th century.

In the 17^th century inexplicably the castle became deserted, so we couldn’t have  any its historical accounts anymore. Just in that time, the inhabitants of Orte started calling the remains of the castle with the name of “Torraccia” because of the dark and surreal feelings that the old tower inspired to them. In the 19^th century a farmhouse was built at the side of the tower by the settlers who worked the surrounding area.

The family owners of the estate has recently renovated with love and care the ancient ruins. The  restoration has enabled the creation of a new farm holiday complex. Outside the  residential swimming Pool, an equipped and rustic Barbecue corner in common with guests. 

It will be nice to take long walks among the hazel, vineyard and the paths of the estate in total tranquility, wander during the performance of organic farming activities or simply enjoy and have relax in the Pool.area.

The family will welcome guests in a friendly and warm atmosphere and they will take care making himself available for any need!

ACCOMODATION :

At guests’ disposal 5 apartments whose rooms can be booked also individually (by B&b Treatment). Each apartment is independent and is equipped with living room with TV,  fully accessorised kitchen and outside table.

- NOCCIOLO (2 + 2):

it is located at the ground floor in front of the Swimming Pool. It is composed by a living room with equipped kitchen, tv, one double sofa bed and an area with 1 double bed and one comfortable  bathroom.Outdoor table

- CASTAGNO (4 + 2):

it is the more rustic flat located at the ground floor in front of the Pool. It is composed by a large living room with ancient wooden beams and walls that constitute the base of the tower, equipped kitchen, tv and one double sofa bed, 1 lovely double bedroom, 1 bedroom with 2 single beds, 1 comfortable bathroom . Outdoor table.

- ULIVO (7 + 2):

it is an elegant and spacious flat at the first floor. It is composed by a a wide living room with tv and one double sofa bed, the equipped kitchen, 1 double bedroom with canopy bed, a peculiar bedroom with vaulted structure within the tower and a  triple bedroom with one double bed + one single bed, 3 comfortable bathrooms. Private outside table situated in the barbeque corner.

- QUERCIA (8 + 2):

it is the biggest flat located at the second floor on different levels. It is composed by a spacious living room with equipped kitchen, sofa and tv, another lovely living room with double sofa bed, 1 triple bedroom composed by one double bed + one single bed with bathroom, 1 attic room with one double bed + one single bed and bathroom with Jacuzzi, 1 double room with bathroom from which you can have access to the highest point of the tower with panoramic terrace. Outside table in the Barbecue corner.

 - TIGLIO  (2 + 2):

a lovely independent Cottage situated close to the main building and the Swimming Pool. It is composed by a living room with equipped kitchen, tv, and double sofa bed , 1 bathroom  and a charming double bedroom located on the open loft. Outside table and chairs in front of the flat.

The non cultivated company surface is dedicated to different activities: footing, picnic, trekking

The farmhouse is situated in a zone extremely favourable to move towards Rome (by train and car) and places of historical, artistic and naturalistic importance in Tuscia, such as Tuscania (necropolis of Norchia and Sutri) and Viterbo, city of Etrurian origins (traces of the Etrurian settlement can be detected on the hill of the Duomo among the rests of an impressive perimeter wall). Among the Medieval jewels of the city there is the San Pellegrino Quarter, in the city centre, a typical example of land of the thirteenth century.  The 3rd of September of each year there is the transport of the Santa Rosa Machine and this is the principal Viterbo festival.  The machine is accompanied through the city centre up to the Santa Rosa Sanctuary. It is a very exalting event, unique for its beauty. Among the Tuscia jewels we recommend also the sixteenth century Villa Lande, built just outside the ancient village, at Bagnaia (4 kilometres far from Viterbo), that constitutes one of the most relevant creations of the Italian late Renaissance; and also the Sacred Wood of the Orsini at Bomarzo (only 15 km far from the structure), one of the most important places for the architecture and history of the Italian landscape. This is a park of about three hectares, where a series of fantastic structures modelled on huge volcanic rocks have been created in order to create a garden of delights, full of innovative works of art embedded in the sinuous green architectures of a typical Italian garden. Among the majestic palaces it is worth visiting Palazzo Farnese in the town of Caprarola and the castles of ancient feuds of Vasanello, Orte, Vignanello, Soriano nel Cimino. Do not miss the patron feasts and festivals dedicated to local products which are held throughout the year in many villages located a few km from the farmhouse. Other nice places are the lakes that are nearby, including Lake of Vico and Lake of Bolsena, on the edge of the village of Montefiascone with its perched old town. Moving to the area of Umbria, just 19 km from the property, there are the centres of Narni, Amelia, Orvieto as well as the impressive Marmore Falls in Terni.
