The agriturismo

An agriturismo on an organic farm, less than 2 km as the crow flies from the ancient hamlet of Sarnano, in the Monti Azzurri Mountain Community.  

The accommodation

The agriturismo is located inside an old farmhouse (main house plus hayloft) renovated to preserve the original features (stone, brick, the old roof tiles) with the interior walls built using green building techniques. The structure (including the two kitchenettes) is furnished in an Arte Povera style.

 

Del Sole Apartment: independent entrance and lounge/kitchen. Upper floor: double bedroom with bathroom and spacious terrace, plus a second bedroom with three single beds (one on a mezzanine level) with its own bathroom.

Del Sole Room: three single beds, one on a mezzanine level, which can be transformed into a single room thanks to its independent entrance.

Della Bella Vista Apartment: independent entrance (external staircase). A spacious lounge with a kitchenette and 180 degree views. In the attic there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom. This can be adjoined to a single room, with a three quarter bed and its own bathroom.

For all guests, on the ground floor there is an entrance (which houses regular exhibitions) and a spacious lounge leading onto a kitchen, with a table and an open fireplace renovated in line with the original structure. Outside there is a covered veranda offering views of the SibilliniMountains.

Between the two structures there is an old paved courtyard with a large barbecue.

 

The farm produces wine (adjoining vineyard) and organically grown vegetables. There is also an orchard with Marche red apples and a vegetable garden. The farm’s produce is available for guests to purchase. There are over four hectares of woodland and shrubland with many species of trees and shrubs.

Activities and surrounding

The agriturismo is located in an ancient region, rich in history and legend (Sybil’s Cave, the fairies with goat’s feet).

The hills are home to the typical towns of San Ginesio, Gualdo and Penna San Giovanni. The Sibillini Mountains offer peaks more than 2000 metres high, gorges and karst plateaus. The National Park is the habitat of wolves, golden eagles and peregrine falcons.

I have been managing Le Borette since 2013 along with a colleague.

As well as we welcome the guests, we are responsible for communication, we take care of the crops.

It was a desire to to live in nature which led me to run an agriturismo.

Our guests especially appreciate the warm family welcome.
