Urbino (Pesaro e Urbino) Code
Thefarmhouse takes its name from the old 1500s water mill of Duke Federico da Montefeltro, whose great-great-grandfather was the last miller at the end of the last century.
The structure, now disused and engulfed by nature, was part of a series of five mills that bordered the stream. To this day, the Duke's remains the only tangible evidence of this ancient tradition in the area.
The cottage becomes part of thefamily farm, which has always cultivated its acres with sunflowers, wheat, alfalfa, oats and whatnot in the Cesane Mountains Park.
It is ideal for a relaxing and comfortable vacation but also for sporty and dynamic adventurers and those curious aboutart and traditions.
It is on a hill in these landscapes, among hiking trails and the bike park, that the stone farmhouse stands, not far from the Renaissance city of Urbino.
The structure is recently renovated, furnished with taste and simplicity. You will find everything you need to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable vacation: a large living room where you can gather in front of the fireplace on winter evenings or on the veranda where you can enjoy a good wine in front of a beautiful sunset on summer evenings.
The apartments are mirrored and are equipped with the same amenities. The only difference is that the apartment located on the upper floor is equipped with a shower and dishwasher. Available to both units: three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with laundry facilities. Two double rooms and one single with a comfortable single bed, and a large sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped, and outside there is a barbecue on the veranda next to comfortable wooden lounge where you can enjoy a good book.
Outside, the property enjoys its own uncovered parking and a large private garden, equipped with a gazebo with barbecue braziers, accompanying the hillside.
Guests will be able to lose themselves in the tranquility of the paths and white roads that cross the sunflower or wheat fields of the Cesane Mountains. As they walk, they will be able to enjoy some great little surprises, such as encountering some animal-a porcupine, a fox or even a deer-or they may come across the ruins of Duke Federico da Montefeltro's mill or those of the uncovered Church of Pieve della Cagna.
Then wandering around the Cesane Park, they will enjoy the rocky trails of the bike park for two-wheelers. Unforgettable will be a refreshment break at Mrs. Tiziana 's Baita where they can taste local specialties.
At 11 km, they will be able to stroll inside the fortress of Piero della Francesca's ideal city that was the birthplace of the painter Raphael whose birthplace can be visited. Urbino , however, is still totally devoted to the lord who consecrated it to world fame: Duke Federico da Montefeltro to whom a historical re-enactment is dedicated every first weekend in August. Urbino is also a city of kites, and every early September the various contrade compete in a battle of colorful structures that parade across the sky. Theuniversity gives that European character to the small town by populating its picturesque narrow streets with students, discussions, lectures and exhibitions. Forart lovers, the Gallerie nazionale delle Marche located at the Ducal Palace is not to be missed, housing several noteworthy masterpieces. So are Barocci's frescoes in the cathedral next door.
There are numerous orange flags in the Montefeltro area from Urbania to Sant'Angelo in Vado to Cagli itself to the lively Fossombrone. Don't miss the imposing San Leo perched on its yellow tufa wall and the Republic of San Marino , which certainly needs no introduction. One is truly spoiled for choice. It will be a pleasure to drive from village to village and breathe in the slow, peaceful atmosphere within the historic walls.
To break up your stay with some sea air, a mere 40-minute drive takes you to the coast with the beaches of Fano and Pesaro. The former boasts a quaint old town full of history. Fano is known for the longest intact Roman walls in Europe. A quiet town but with a lively nightlife. Pesaro is the home of Rossini and Valentino Rossi. Elegant and intellectually purposeful city. Rich calendar of events and offerings in the city.
