The agriturismo
This delightful 1800s home has been wonderfully renovated, to the joy of those who love life up close with nature, who value wellbeing and sensory harmony. The agriturismo provides guest accommodation in peaceful countryside, close to the Macalube Nature Reserve, in Aragona.
The accommodation
The resort spreads over two levels around a central courtyard. On the ground floor, the former lounge and the bedrooms of the farmer and the farmhands have now been transformed into the agriturismo’s hall and communal spaces.
The old kitchen has been redeveloped into the modern kitchen of today: today as it always was, the “heart of the home”, a place not only for enjoying fine food, but also for having fun preparing delicious dishes with the produce from the farm’s vegetable garden.
The stables and the millstone room now house the wellness centre, while the area reserved for the noble classes, on the first floor, has been transformed into the guest rooms.
Activities and surrounding
The staff will be happy to suggest various activities to enrich your agriturismo experience: from chef-led cookery classes to “Scialo Wellness” - wellbeing using ancient natural remedies and relaxation -, or why not get involved on the farm, from gardening to harvesting? Take a guided tour to the Valley of the Temples or the historic centre of Agrigento, explore the coastline by boat; and even go trekking through the Sicani Mountains, with guided tours available on horseback or by mountain bike.

My wife and I stayed two nights at Fontes Episcopi in May. It was our first time in Sicily and our first stay at an Agriturismo. Katia was very helpful with tourist sites and with Michele they were very accommodating to specific requests (food, wine, and grappa suggestions! ).
