The staff will be happy to offer you dishes compatible with your diet.
The Feudo's tourist offer from the beginning has been enriched with the construction of a swimming pool, for the exclusive use of the accommodated guests; the road leading to the farmhouse is entirely paved and 2.5 km long. The facility has a large parking area with room to maneuver even for large vehicles, such as motor coaches.
Thanks to its secluded location and very easy accessibility as well as the undoubted charm of the places, Antico Feudo San Giorgio is the ideal setting for any kind of occasion: the simple weekend of relaxation, the long vacation, the moments of celebration related to birthdays, anniversaries, the celebration of weddings, business meetings, family retreats; events all of which can be realized inside the restaurant, on the terrace with a panorama as far as the eye can see, in theeye at the foot of the Madonie mountains, in the striking and austere stone courtyard, in the spacious pool solarium, or with a combination of such spaces, so as to make your celebration less structured and more eventful.
Regarding the celebration of wedding parties, thanks to the agreement with the Municipality of Polizzi Generosa, it is possible to celebrate weddings with civil rite directly at the Feudo, making prior arrangements with the same Municipality.
Therefore, if you have in mind simple ceremonies, sheltered from the sun, in the shade of our centuries-old trees or surrounded by our wheat fields, with the sound of the wind in the background and the chirping of our numerous winged friends, know that here at the Feudo it is possible.
On such occasions, we try, as much as possible, to avoid overlapping with other guests, recommending a reservation of all spaces of the Feud (indoor and outdoor) exclusively, in order to make the participation of those attending more manageable and intimate.
And this is indispensable, especially if you want to organize after the wedding lunch a dance evening with open bar service, without having time restrictions.
What can you do on site, without taking the car?
From the months of May to October, you can relax in an infinity pool, sixteen by eight meters wide, with a large solarium and pergola, equipped with showers and sunbeds. Access to the pool is restricted to accommodated guests only, while the restaurant, with prior reservation, is also open to guests passing through.
Right next to the pool, there is a play area for the little ones, with slides, swings, tower, playhouse, four cantons, hopscotch, basket.
The panoramic terrace, equipped with tables and chairs, where two ancient umbrella pines dominate, is a truly unique space, and, especially from spring onward, it is possible to enjoy sixty meters of views as far as the eye can see of the Madonie hillsides.
In the distance is the village of Petralia Soprana, the one best recognized at an altitude of a thousand meters; in winter, depending on the weather, it is usually best to linger inside with the warmth of the heaters and fireplace.
Finally, before you enter the large courtyard, which leads to the various lodgings, on the left you will find a garden with old trees. This is a somewhat more secluded area, to be preferred if you would like a quiet moment of your own to read or if you enjoy a game of bocce ball (make a request to the management or someone on staff).
There is also an indoor space normally used as a game room, where you can dabble in table soccer and ping pong.
This large room, if needed, can also be used as a meeting room, as it is equipped with a big screen with video projector and easel board.
Also ask to visit the Feud Museum: the recent restoration of the barn and stables was an opportunity to display objects and furnishings that testify to the history of these ancient and charming places.
Do you like to stroll?
You will just have to get lost among the wheat fields, vineyards, olive trees, new forestry and fruit tree plantings.
Indeed, if you have a specific interest in agricultural production, know that our harvest periods are for wheat by the first half of July, for grapes during September/October, and for olives during November.
Do you love animals?
Easily, adults and children alike, you can socialize with animals: Ragusan donkeys, Italian Marches cows, sheep, cats and chickens.
The Madonie Mountains, the area in which we are located, are a paradise waiting to be discovered, with the picturesque and clean villages, where you have managed not to lose the local traditions and the authenticity of human relationships. The pace here is very relaxed, sometimes too much so, but the quality of life in some ways is better than in many of our chaotic urban centers.
Would you like an escort or guide to organize excursions?
The owners can put you in touch with some of them. The companion, however, is not essential, and if you are a good walker, you have many possibilities at hand, accessible and compatible with your stay at Feudo San Giorgio.
They point you, for example, to the Vallone Madonna degli Angeli, where you can admire the famous abies nebrodensis as well as the sanctuary of Madonna dell'Alto. These are very easy walks that we recommend to everyone, for which no special skills are needed.
At Piano Battaglia, which can be reached in about 30 minutes by car, a state-of-the-art ski lift would be available. Better, however, to type www.pianobattaglia.it for up-to-date infomations on instructors, snowshoeing in winter and guided walks because unfortunately organization and bureaucracy do not help winter tourism.
For lovers of acrobatics, it is impossible not to pay a visit to the Madonie Adventure Park, in contrada Gorgo Nero, about 20 minutes' drive from Feudo San Giorgio. It is a beautiful equipped forest, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, with trails and climbing above the trees, for all abilities. Your children and teenagers will go crazy with happiness, but anyone can test their skills. Important to wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
During the summer, still staying within the nature tourism circuit, a day at the Tiberius Gorges (contact: www.madonieapassolento.it), in the bed of the Pollina River, will not disappoint (bring a picnic breakfast and plenty to drink!).
A visit to the rock salt mine in Petralia Soprana (contact: sottosale association) is among the special features of our area and should not be missed for this reason.
Very interesting is the new Isnello Gal Hassin Astronomical Park. For tours and reservations type www.galhassin.it.
Also worth mentioning is the museum of the historic Targa Florio in Collesano, which concerns us very closely since it had and takes place right on our state road, the 120 (we are at km 46).
Finally, still little known, but a remarkable example of rock architecture, are the Grotte della Gurfa caves, with adjoining necropolis, near the town of Alia, which we should refer to in order to organize a visit, still remaining in the province of Palermo.
What about the festivals and fairs, which throughout the year animate the various Madonie centers? In Polizzi Generosa around the beginning of May there is the feast of the Santissimo Crocifisso, on the third Sunday of September the feast of San Gandolfo, the beloved patron saint of the town, in the second half of August the hazelnut festival, and at the end of August the sfoglio festival, a typical Polizzano dessert. In Caltavuturo in June recurs the bread festival, in August the white night and in autumn that of the ferla mushroom. In Petralia Sottana, on the penultimate Sunday of October there is the Festival of autumn flavors and in Castelbuono not to be missed is the feast of the patron saint Sant'Anna on July 26 as well as the fung fest, a festival dedicated to mushrooms that takes place on the penultimate Sunday of October. On the last Sunday in July the sagra della spiga (ear of corn festival) in Gangi, recognized as one of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages) remains enormously impressive, due to the magnificent golden yellow colors and the beauty of the center. Geraci Siculo, a tiny village that truly seems enchanted, also has several attractions and is worth a visit. Cefalù and Castelbuono, on the other side of the Madonie Mountains, are renowned tourist resorts. One idea might be to reach them by crossing the mountains and return to Feudo San Giorgio, taking the highway again.
If one is willing to travel a few more miles, the possibilities are endless.
One just has to patiently arrange routes and roads. Certainly, the big Sicilian cities, Palermo and Catania, would merit at least a day. Medesimo time is taken for an excursion to Mount Etna (however, take a look at the weather: it is a shame to go up with an unclear sky, bring something for the wind and cold and request our voucher). Over the years we have also found considerable enthusiasm for the Canyon of Cava Grande in Avola (again, for this visit, starting from Feudo San Giorgio, you must consider a day). The Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina (time required: half a day) is definitely not to be missed, and will leave you speechless! The visit to the Roman Villa in Piazza Armerina could be combined with an undemanding stop in Caltagirone, a town famous for its beautiful ceramics and shepherds. Or a stop in the small town of Aidone, where you will find a small museum, which houses the famous colossal Venus of Morgantina and other finds from central Sicily. The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, in summer, can fit into an evening schedule, thus trying to avoid the great heat of daylight hours. Among the small towns and within an hour of Antico Feudo San Giorgio, one idea may be Caccamo, with a beautiful castle and an artificial lake where water skiing is practiced. In that direction, don't miss the Himera archaeological park, checking its regular opening.
