The agriturismo
The new Sandwiesen-Hof farmstead is a 4-flower (star) farm.
Located in Gargazzone, between Bolzano and Merano, nestled among the orchards of the Adige Valley, it offers the opportunity to experience the countryside, enjoy the sun and peace, practice various sports activities or simply rest. Thefamily atmosphere, the hospitality and the range of home-grown products made available make the farm an ideal vacation spot. An essential element of this place is the human being with his desire to live in a healthy and comfortable, energy-saving environment.
Winemaker Peter Thuile produces a high-quality sparkling apple cider with elegant notes, refermented in the bottle. It is light and low in alcohol with no residual sugar.
The accommodation
Two comfortable apartments are available to guests:
GREEN Apartment (2-4 persons, 46 sq.m. 14 sq.m. balcony): with various shades of green nature inside, it consists of large living room with equipped kitchenette (electric hotplate, extractor hood, steel cookware, toaster, kettle, kitchen scales, coffee and espresso machine, dish dryer, dishes and dishwasher), sofa bed (l. 210 cm), bedroom, bathroom with shower, toilet and hair dryer, sunny balcony with panoramic view.
Apartment RED (2-4 persons, 54 sq m balcony of 14 sq m): so called because of the presence of different shades of the color red, it consists of living room with equipped kitchenette (electric stove, extractor hood, steel pots and pans, toaster, kettle, kitchen scales, coffee maker, dish dryer, dishes and dishwasher), 2 bedrooms, bathroom with shower, toilet and hairdryer, a WC, sunny balcony with panoramic view.
Both accommodations feature energy-saving light bulbs, solid wood furniture, pure cotton or linen linens, use of "Grander" technology for improving water quality in the kitchen and bathroom, flat-screen TV with satellite TV reception, fine mattresses, safe, folding baby bed, adjustable table seat, books, board games.
Guests can enjoy the lawn with deck chairs, umbrellas, table tennis, table football, covered parking, bicycles, tennis rackets, herbs, salads and vegetables from the garden, home-grown agricultural products.
The farm is not hooked up to any kind of external power plant, but relies exclusively on local energy sources. Through a heating pump, the earth's heat is used in winter for the heating system and hot water supply, and in summer for the air conditioning system. The pump is powered by its own 80-sqm photovoltaic system. The controlled indoor ventilation system ensures that ventilation is provided even if windows are not opened and that the temperature remains stable. Thermal doors and windows prevent temperature swings and at the same time ensure excellent lighting of the rooms. The interior surfaces of the apartments are environmentally friendly, clay troweled; oiled floors are made of oak wood or troweled with marble flour on a base of simple lime. The green surfaces on the roofs of both dwellings are meant to reward nature for what was taken from her in the construction of the farmhouse.
Activities and surrounding
The farm represents the ideal place to spend your vacation.
Not to be missed in spring is the boundless blossoming of the orchards of the sunny Adige Valley, which seduces with its scent and colors.
In summer, you can take advantage of the public natural-waterswimming pool in Gargazzone (an absolutely natural swimming complex where water purification is guaranteed without the use of chemical additives).
Just 5 minutes from the farm, tennis courts and numerous bike paths, among which the one that runs along the Adige River deserves special mention: fully equipped, with all the necessary indications, it leads north, to the town of Merano with its thermal baths, pushing on to Passo Resia while to the south, through Bolzano, it reaches Lake Garda (possibility of returning by train, also loading your bike).
The farm is also a convenient starting point for various hikes among the mountains of South Tyrol, following the more wooded routes, or for walks in the small village of Gargazzone; in autumn, nature shows its most lush colors and spreads an intense aroma of ripe fruit. Thanks to the nearby slopes, guests can indulge in unforgettable mountain walks . At this time of year on the farm there is an intense fruit-picking activity.Guests can take the opportunity to directly experience life in the countryside thanks to the railway connection in the immediate vicinity (0.6 km) you can visit the two towns without moving by car. Finally, the gardens of Trauttmansdorrf Castle and the Messner Mountain Museum are worth a visit.
