Free Ritten Card: free rides on public transportation in South Tyrol, free admission to more than 80 museums and numerous other benefits.
There are numerous attractions in the vicinity of the facility that are worth a visit. Following are some recommendations:
Ritten Earth Pyramids, 1 km
Original clay structures, protected by a stone "hat." The Ritten Earth Pyramids are the tallest in Europe and are about 25,000 years old.
RittenTrain
Ultra-century-old narrow-gauge railway, which runs from Soprabolzano to Collalbo. A ride in its historic carriages is a journey into the past, opening up enchanting views of the Dolomites along the way.
Freud Walk
"The Ritten is divinely enchanting and pleasant." Here, in the summer of 1911, Sigmund Freud spent relaxing days and celebrated his silver wedding anniversary. The walk, which leads from Soprabolzano to Collalbo (1 ½ hours), is embellished with quotations at rest stops, illustrating the thoughts of the founder of psychoanalysis.
Bozen/Bolzano: a 12-minute ride on the Renon Cable Car separates Soprabolzano from Bozen/Bolzano, where an exciting blend of cultures and eras can be admired: shopping under the historic arcades and at the market in Piazza delle Erbe, with its colorful stalls and specialties. At the Fischbänke, people gather to enjoy a Venetian and a bruschetta, in the Stube restaurants to sample Alpine classics. The futurist Museion building offers a home to modern art, while the Archaeological Museum houses the legendary Ötzi.
Plattner Farm: Plattner Farm in Costalovara is one of the oldest on the Ritten. The barn houses the Beekeeping Museum, where you can learn fascinating details about this activity, bees and honey production, while the outdoor educational trail illustrates the world from the perspective of these industrious insects. The Ritten Train takes you to Costalovara, and after a short walk you reach the museum. Free admission and ride with the RittenCard.
