In the surroundings, there are also smaller towns with as much history and culture such as San Miniato, ancient village retreated up a hill, nationally renowned also for the “Truffle Feast” which is held every year in November; San Gimignano the medieval town of the hundred towers; Volterra the Etruscan town where alabaster is produced and Certaldo the medieval village where Boccaccio was born.
Furthermore, if you want to go to the seaside, in less than an hour you can reach Versilia, the famous Tuscan coast with its renowned beach resorts: the fashionable Forte dei Marmi and the more popular Viareggio, famous all over Italy for its Carnival.
