Very close is the Natural Park of Maremma, with its uncontaminated spots, the animals that live undisturbed and that you can see, especially in autumn and spring, in the vast plains along the coast. In winter you can observe the life of water birds in the clearings and in the evening, in the red Maremma sunsets, the return of coots, ducks and wild geese. Thanks to the reactivation of the old boat that ferried from one bank of the Ombrone river to the other, in a short time it will be possible to reach Alberese, and therefore the entrance to the Maremma Park, from the farm in a few minutes by bicycle.
Those who love the sea and pinewoods can go to Principina a Mare, about 5 km away. There you will find clean sea and wide sandy beaches where you can sunbathe or walk to the mouth of the river Ombrone or reach the port of Marina di Grosseto. Along the coast it is possible to surf and kyte, as the wind conditions are particularly favourable for these sports.Castiglione della Pescaia is only 15 km away.
A few kilometers from the farmhouses in Tuscany, in Maremma, towards the interior, there are Etruscan and Roman archaeological sites of great interest, since in ancient times there were two important lucumonies, that of Roselle and that of Vetulonia, and towards the south of the Province of Grosseto, about an hour's drive, that of Sovana. Near the latter there is the famous thermal area of Saturnia. Along the road leading to this area is the Monte Argentario district with its small villages and fortresses from the time of Spanish domination and the Orbetello lagoon, also famous for its eel farming and the production of a prized botargo.
In the northern part of the province of Grosseto is Massa Marittima, about 40 minutes by car, with its splendid cathedral and nearby Lake Accesa. The area is rich in typical and traditional products: you can taste excellent pecorino cheese combined with DOC wines (there are 8 in the province of Grosseto), meat from wild animals, Cinta Senese salami. On the farm guests will find jams and a typical home cooking, light and tasty based on local products and extra virgin olive oil. The cities of Siena (70 Km) and Florence (160 Km) are not far away. Livorno, Pisa and Lucca can be reached in about 1 hour and a half by car.
