Tenuta di Paganico is a historic organic farm. It is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, at the gates of the medieval village of Paganico and on the Montecucco DOC wine road.
The estate covers 1,500 hectares planted with vineyards, olive groves, arable land and woodland; Maremmana cattle, Maremmana mares and Cinta Senese pigs graze here in wild state.
Guests can accomodate in the centre of the estate, "La Fattoria", which has always been the owner's house and the heart of the Trekking, horse riding, tasting of wine and many other products of the territory are only a few of the possibilities that we offer our guests.
Immersed in the quiet of the Maremma countryside yet easily accessible by all means, the Agriturismo Tenuta di Paganico offers its guests seven apartments of different types, six of which are in the old renovated farmhouse "I Roggeti" and one in the historic Manor House of the estate, "La Fattoria". The apartments, rich in atmosphere and complete with all comforts, have been given the names of the activities that once hosted in their rooms.
In the farm I Roggeti we have:
Il Mandriolo - where once the cattle were housed
La Tinaia - the old wine cellar
L 'Oleario - the place where the oil was conserved
La Caciaia - where the cheese was conserved
La Colombaia - the high wing of the farm
La Lazzaretto - where the sheep were housed isolated from the herd for health reasons
In the Farm we have:
La Casa di Caccia - where the hunters used to meet in the evening.
Large green spaces reserved for each apartment, barbecue, swimming pool, vegetable garden, mountain bikes, ping pong, horseback riding or simple walks through the woods and plains of the estate to meet the herds of curious wild Cinta Senese pigs.
Havingh always been a hunting reserve, here it becomes usual to live with pheasants, hares, deer, foxes, deer, nutria and birds. And then the opportunity to learn more about the many activities of the estate and its project to re-evaluate the history and environment, the strategic location with respect to the Tuscan tourist centers of great importance, make a stay in this farm of great interest both cultural and tourist.
The Maremma nature, great protagonist at Tenuta di Paganico, will then think with its sounds, its colors, and also its silences, to make the difference in the memories that guests will keep of their holiday here.
In less than a half hour's drive is Monte Amiata, with its winter ski resorts and woods of firs, chestnuts and beeches; Roselle and Vetulonia, Etruscan and Roman archeological sites; Montalcino and its vintage 'Brunello' red wine; the unique flora and fauna of the Maremma Natural Park; the splendid Costa d'Argento with Punta Ala, Monte Argentario and the Tuscan Archipelago. For those who prefer to relax, the Tenuta offers an extraordinary natural environment for walks along the Ombrone river or in the 1000 hectares of Mediterrenean woods which surround cultivated fields.
The splendid countryside is also rich in hunting traditions which have also acted to conserve numerous wild species: pheasant, hare, boar, fallow- deer, roe- buck, hedgehog and duck.
