Sassetta (Livorno) Code 049019AAT0009
The facility is a small village plunged in a centuries old wood of turkey oaks, chestnut trees and ilexes. I's built in mtraditional tuscan style and with bioarchitecture material, that give the best temperature during all year round. Just a short way from Sassetta and 15 kilometres from the sandy beaches of Marina di Castagneto and San Vincenzo, it offers accommodation in well decored flats with mediterranen private garden, and the opportunity of spending a holiday dedicated to nature and sea. It's located 500 mt from beautiful Termal spa of Sassetta. Important is the enogastronomic tradition with fine wines (Sassicaia, Ornellaia) and the typical dishes prepared with wild boar, mushrooms and chestnuts.
The restaurant is open from 1 May to 30 September.
The facility, completed in 2007, is made up of three country houses which are divided up into eight flats. Renovation work also involved an old mill dating back to 1700, which was restored according to the typical Tuscany countryside architecture using materials in conformity with bioarchitecture, creating harmonious, carefully built and health friendly rooms. The company produces excellent Tuscan IGP certified olive oil, which can be bought and tasted on site.
At guests' disposal roomy flats fitted with all comforts, a big private garden, porch, fireplace and assigned parking space. The flats are of different dimensions:
La Torretta and la Terrazza (4+1 people) 100 sm. flat made up of habitable kitchen, dining room with fireplace, two double bedrooms, one of which with two beds, and two bathrooms. Also suitable for four people by transforming one of the bedrooms into a living room.
San Michele and Ginestre (2-4 people) 60 sm. flat made up of living room with kitchenette and fireplace, one double bedroom, bathroom and big attic to be used as second bedroom or living room.
In the common garden there are two swimming pools, the small one is for children, wooden deck chairs and sun loungers.
Information about the area, the cultural events, advice on unusual itineraries, is available from the office near the swimming pool, it is also possible to book selected restaurants, rent bikes or riding lessons and horse rides and to book visits and games.
At walking distance ( 500 mt) there is also a biodynamic farmhouse where it is possible to purchase products such as wine, , charcuterie, cheese or eating in their typical restaurant that serve country traditional dishes.
The guests have various leisure opportunities; with a walk you reach the new spa surrounded by nature: indoor and outdoor stone pools, spring water at 38 °, whirlpools, sauna, turkish bath and massages. Our customers benefit from a reduction on entry price. You can make relaxing hikes in the woods, along marked paths where there are recovered springs, old "drying up" readjusted and made usable for rest areas and picnics. The roads in the woods can be covered on foot or by bike (booking is recommended before arrival). We will provide maps to walk the paths independently. Just two kilometres away it is possible to visit the medieval hamlet of Sassetta where you can find the necessary facilities such as the chemist, grocer, bar, newsagent, doctor, restaurants and pizzerias. During summer interesting cultural and culinary initiatives are organized. In the month of October the chestnut, wood thrush and polenta festivals take place and you can taste dishes prepared with wild boar, mushrooms and chestnuts according to ancient local recipes. Very interesting to visit are also the other medieval villages of the area, such as Castagneto Carducci, Suvereto, Campiglia, Bolgheri and Bibbona, architecturally intact and with old time charm. In each of these villages summer is a succession of open air concerts, exhibitions, street shows, local products tasting and many more events. Costa degli Etruschi on the contrary is famed for the sea and its beaches. From the fine sandy beaches of San Vincenzo, Baratti, Castagneto Carducci, Bibbona, Parco della Sterpaia to the crystal clear water rocky beaches of Buca delle Fate (Baratti), Castiglioncello and Quercianella. Many of the coastal towns have obtained the blue flag for the quality of water. Furthermore, in this zone besides tourist areas with baths and beach umbrellas, many spacious free beaches still exist right by the sea, with pinewoods and Mediterranean maquis. Very picturesque are the Parco di Rimigliano and that of Sterpaia and the pinewood that links Marina di Bibbona to Cecina. Of course it is possible to do all the most typical sports like sailing, diving, snorkeling, surfing and windsurfing and to rent boats for excursions of one ore more days to the Isola d'Elba and the Tuscan Archipelago. Of great interest are also Val di Cornia's theme parks, in particular San Silvestro archaeological mining park where, besides the ruins of the Rocca di San Silvestro (medieval mining village) you can visit, accompanied by an experienced guide, the remains of Campiglia's mines and, on board a narrow gauge train, go through the Lanzi Temperino tunnel, following the minerals route. The many initiatives for children are fun. In the archaeological park of Baratti and Populonia you can visit the Etruscan necropolis, the acropolis with the temples, the thermal buildings and the medieval monastery of San Quirico. The torch lit theatre and concert evenings are really fascinating. Finally, it is advisable to visit (booking in advance) the most prestigious wine cellars of the area. On the gastronomic side restaurants quality is generally good, in same cases excellent. To relax you can spend an evening at the Calidario, the thermal pond with 36 degrees water or experience a wellness path at one of the thalassotherapy centres. For the little ones do not miss the aquapark in Marina di Cecina, water park with swimming pools and slides of various heights and dimensions and the Cavallino Matto, amusement park in Marina di Castagneto. Cyclotoursim lovers can only please themselves choosing among the itineraries; the roads of the area are so quiet and the landscape contexts are beautiful, with interesting slopes. Finally, the holiday home makes and ideal starting point for one day trips to Tuscany's main art cities, in less than two hours you can reach Pisa, Florence, Siena, San Giminiano, Volterra, Lucca.
