Villafranca in Lunigiana (Massa-Carrara) Code 55.20.52
In an old Tuscan stone farmhouse in Lunigiana, with a swimming pool surrounded by hectares of cultivated fields, olive groves, pastures, lawns with streams and woodland, the agriturismo offers a pleasant stay filled with tradition, tranquillity and fine cuisine, prepared using fresh seasonal produce, most of which comes from the farm itself.
The 9 guest rooms, of which one is suitable for disabled guests and their travelling companions, are spread over two different farmhouses, both offering access to the garden and swimming pool.
The restaurant is located inside the old wine cellars. The swimming pool is fitted with a telescopic cover, inside which the climate is controlled, meaning it can also be used during the cooler months, the evenings and on rainy days.
Raised by around 2 metres, and with views of the estate, the “whirlpool turret” with relaxation zone leads on to a small wellbeing centre with sauna, Turkish bath and multi-sensory shower.
The farm’s meats are exquisite: from the chickens to the goats, the pigs to the cows, all animals are reared outdoors and fed with natural feeds.
The olive grove, managed without the use of chemicals, produces excellent oil, with a fruity and slightly spicy flavour, obtained from the cold pressing of the high quality freshly gathered typical olives (Frantoio, Leccino and Pendolino).
There is also a 1500 square metre vegetable garden, and free-range chickens to provide fresh eggs.
The ancient Via Francigena passes along the border of the agriturismo, popular with hikers and believers from all over Europe; the surrounding area is also ideal for walking and horse riding along the pathways which wind through the woodland.
Lunigiana, known as the “land of 100 castles” is perfect for those who love culture, folklore and food and wine.
Inform the agriturismo of any animals at the time of booking.
Owners will be held responsible for damage to property and persons.
