Castiglione d'Orcia (Siena)
We are located in the heart of the Natural and Cultural Artistic Park of Val D'Orcia, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. An enchanting place where, from Poggio al Vento, the breathtaking view overlooks the rolling hills crossed by the River Orcia; from here you can appreciate the majesty of Mount Amiata (1738m asl) and Rocca D'Orcia, better known as Rocca di Tentennano, an ancient fortress of Etruscan origin, silent and imposing sentinel of these ancient places. Another thing you can see is the Castle of Ripa D'Orcia, of the twelfth century, in all its splendor, with its imposing crenellations and Montalcino, with its valleys designed by the geometries of the vineyards.
Our entire property is surrounded by 9.5 hectares of vineyards, 2700 olive trees.
The agriturismo was set up in 1994 when the three apartments – Giglio, Tulipano and Geranio – were built and with the addition in 1998 of the apartments – Mimosa and Oleandro – arriving at five apartments, each with their own kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom.
The agriturismo has an eco-friendly, scenic pool (chlorine-free, with only ozone added) plus solarium, vegetable garden, barbecue, heating using the wood chopped from the farm’s copse.
Extra beds are available for children, as well a garden playground and the company of the two dogs – Laika and Pepe – free to run and around and happy to play.
A rich breakfast based on milk, coffee and tea, bread and butter, sweets and its own jam, made using organically grown fruit. It is possible to see and feed the farmyard animals (hens and rabbits) as well as to pick the seasonal vegetables grown in the garden using organic farming methods to prepare tasty dishes.
There are also tasting sessions for the farm products as well as tasting the new wines from the barriques. Trekking, mountain-bike excursions, wild animal watching, visits to oil mills and canteens in Montalcino. Grape and olive picking as well as honey collecting.

Hi, my name is Roberto Mascelloni and I am 54 years old.
I have been working here for 28 years along with my parents.
We take care of: we welcome the guests, we take care of the crops, we rear the animals.
It was a desire to to keep the family business alive which led me to run an agriturismo.
Our guests especially appreciate the warm family welcome.
