The agriturismo

Situated between the thermal spas of Bagni San Filippo and Bagno Vignoni, the agriturismo is quiet and secluded, close to the picturesque villages of the Orcia Valley — Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano — in an area steeped in history and food and wine culture.

It is in the centre of an organic farm which has always been run by women (according to some records from the Second World War), producing oil, spelt, wheat and pulses.

The accommodation

In 1993, the first floor of the house was renovated to make 2 apartments with fireplace, large rooms, wooden ceilings and restored terracotta floors: Azzurro offers a large kitchen, travertine stone sink and bedroom decorated with 20th century Florentine furniture; Girasole boasts 3 bedrooms with canopy beds and 19th century English and Tuscan furniture. The stable was later converted into  2 more apartments: Smeraldo (for the disabled) on the ground floor has a mezzanine in wrought iron and furniture from the 18th/19th centuries; Acqua, with access to the garden, offers 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen with old sink in pietra serena and a round fireplace.

 

The facility is completed by a swimming pool, barbecue and gazebo with tables, chairs and sofas, a large communal room with fireplace, linked to all the apartments, thus making the agriturismo ideal for renting in its entirety. Outside is a spacious garden, games for children and shady gazebos for relaxation.

Activities and surrounding

The farm is an ideal starting point for pilgrims and hiking enthusiasts, given its proximity to the SR Cassia road and to the ancient Via Francigena. The thermal spa at Bagni San Filippo is just 6 km away, the spa at Bagno Vignoni, 9 km. A little further on are Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino with the nearby Abbey of Sant'Antimo and its marvellous view over the Orcia Valley.

The area is famous for its outstanding food and wine.
