You should get lost in listing the possibilities of excursions and places to visit around us. We are at the centre of the Trasimeno Natural Park, crossed by endless pedestrian and cycling routes, such as the Land Reclamation Trail that goes from Chiusi to Arezzo. We are exactly along the Via Romea Germanica that from Stadt to the north of Germany leads to Rome; ancient Via di Fede and current mystical path like the most famous Via Francigena. Cortona, which is only 30 km from us, is a small jewel of medieval architecture, rich in churches and museums. Montepulciano and Pienza, another medieval town and famous for its noble wine, the first, ideal city of Rossellino built at the behest of Pope Pius II, the second, are just 26 km from us. Chiusi and Città della Pieve, ancient Etruscan lucumonies rich in history can be reached in 15/20 minutes. Lake Trasimeno is immediately reachable, offers excellent restaurants and beaches equipped for swimming as its capital Castiglione del Lago, a municipality of which we are part, at the center of the lake you can visit the three islands that emerge such as Polvese, largest and only inhabited, Maggiore and Minore. Also in Castiglione del Lago, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, there are international events such as "Coloriamo i cieli" (Let's colour the skies) during the days of May 1st, when fans from all over the world arrive to fly their kites in the meadow of the old airport, or the "International Folklore Festival", an international festival aimed at promoting the knowledge of traditions and popular culture of different countries and finally the "tulip festival" (last week of April), dating back to the twinning with Holland, to see the show of Castiglione del Lago entirely adorned with beautiful flowers. In the last week of March takes place the now famous and international ultramarathon "Strasimeno" that with five different lengths of route (10,21,34,42 and 58 km), takes place around the lake attracting athletes from around the world and now fully entered in the circuit of the most important world marathons. Being in Umbria, you can not miss a visit to the mystical Assisi (about an hour and a half away from us), hometown of St. Francis Patron Saint of Italy, which with its basilicas and its magical atmosphere will kidnap you and take you to an otherworldly dimension! There is still much more to say, but we prefer that our guests discover for themselves how much more our Territory so ancient, rich in history and full of charm can offer. We're waiting for you!
