Agriturismo Colle Surya

Colle Surya is an agritourism with swimming pool among the hills of Umbria, but above all it is a farming, living and welcoming project; it is hill, home and hamlet at the same time: a living that the managers Silvia and Alberto love to share with their guests.

At Colle Surya you will find the Palazzo del Gastaldo, a historic home and farmhouse in the hills of Umbria, which is home after so much wandering.

Silvia and Alberto open the doors of their estate to those who would like to spend a vacation here, just a few kilometers from Gubbio, that smells like home and a different life, more your own.

The Palazzo del Gastaldo, which now houses the farmhouse, tells the story of these places with its walls and towers.

Historical dwelling dating back to the early Middle Ages where lived, during one of the periods of Byzantine occupation of Gubbio, a Lombard Gastaldo, that is, an administrator of the Dukes' property on behalf of the King. Stronghold to which was entrusted the defense of the territory controlled by Gubbio in the wars against Perugia.

What we see today is also the result of a restoration that took place in the 1980s by the owners of the time, who restored it to its former glory. Silvia and Alberto continued their work by furnishing it while respecting the historicity and atmosphere of this building.

The rooms of the building today are seven beautiful apartments, renovated and furnished respecting the historicity, with wooden beams, terracotta floors and furniture that tell a story. Each apartment has a furnished veranda and kitchen: they have been named Il Fienile, La Scuderia, L'Eremo, La Legnaia, La Loggia, Il Gastaldo and Surya.

La Scuderia is the most spacious apartment of the 5, lit by large windows, it has two large double bedrooms and a private equipped outdoor courtyard . In the kitchen, equipped with a dishwasher, induction cooktop, electric stove and refrigerator with a small freezer, you'll find everything you need, including mocha.

The Barn has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, bathroom with shower stall, living room with dining room and fireplace, and fully equipped kitchen .

The Woodshed is designed to be accessible, with two rooms, one double and one twin, bathroom with shower without a stall to allow everyone convenient access, living and dining room with fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen .

TheHermitage and Surya , on the other hand, are perfect for couples, sleeping up to 3.

La Loggia and Surya are two open spaces on the ground floor with a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, dining room, double bed and bathroom with shower stall.

Colle Surya is an estate of about 19 ha, surrounded by unspoiled nature, where you can find a farmhouse with a swimming pool and apermaculture farm.

Managers Silvia and Alberto gladly dedicate their time to their guests to tell them about their project, their farm and their estate. Just arrange upon arrival to find together when to take a tour with them.

Colle Surya is an ideal starting point for visitingUmbria and its cities of art, for walks and treks that are relaxing or that will test your calves, and bike rides. The farmhouse is 23 km from Gubbio and about 30 km from Perugia .The nearest town is Umbertide, which is 11 km away, where you can find supermarkets, pharmacies, baker, greengrocer, sports center etc. Lake Trasimeno and Tuscany can be reached in a short time (the farmhouse is near the exit/entrance of the E45).

Nearby you can play golf at Antognolla Golf Club, tennis at Umbertide Tennis Club or Gubbio Tennis Club, paragliding and canyoning at Monte Cucco Park.

But it also only takes a few steps to discover in the surroundings of the Palazzo del Gastaldo some splendid places, witnesses of historical facts and local legends, which will thrill young and old alike such as:

-Gorghi delle Sirene: waterfalls and small natural pools of water formed by the Lanna River;

- Hermitage of Silence: a literal place of peace where probably those who lived in the Palace liked to relax and reflect.

- Shrine of St. Cecilia the Hermit: in this secluded place in the mid-1200s the young Cecilia took refuge, determined to lead a hermit and prayerful life, followed later by other girls. Even today St. Cecilia the Hermit is invoked for children's illnesses, and jewelry and oils are brought here to be blessed.

A couple of times a month, agri-picnics are organized in the park surrounding the Gastaldo Palace, based on local and Colle Surya products.

The agriturismo collaborates with a bike shop in Gubbio for e-bike rentals. You can reserve them, receive them directly at Colle Surya, and conveniently pay the rental guys.
