In Bevagna, in the heart of Umbria, on the road of Sagrantino is the farm "La Fonte".
The family-run
farm and agritourism in Umbria has been managed since 2010 by siblings Giulia and Francesco Trabalza Marinucci who, together with their parents, Guido and Patrizia, carry on the farming tradition
that has characterized this family since the early 1900s.
The accommodation
The farmhouse Le Case hosts from 2 to maximum 4 guests. The ground floor apartment has 1 bathroom with shower and hairdryer, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, fully equipped kitchen/living room with sofa, wood burning stove and independent bathroom.EQUIPMENT: LCD flat screen TV, iron and ironing board, bed/bath/kitchen linen, fridge, electric oven. Cot available. Outside the apartment has a private veranda with table and chairs .
Prices include: final cleaning, bathroom and bed linen with weekly change, utilities, barbecue, shaded parking space.
The farmhouse has a washing machine available for guests.
The farm has about 25 hectares and offers its guests agritourism service, produces extra virgin olive oil, wine and saffron.
Theolive grove covers 10 hectares with typical cultivars of the area: moraiolo, leccino and frantoio, so as to boast the recognition of excellence as D.O.P. Umbria dei Colli Martani.
The vineyard covers about 4 hectares and is located partly in the plain and partly in the hills. The soil is of medium consistency and the favourable climatic conditions allow the cultivation of typical vines of the area such as Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet.
Saffron is the new challenge undertaken by the company, a good intuition that has led to enrich the company with a product that mixes the tradition of growing Crocus sativus L. with innovation.
Tasty aperitifs between the rows of vines at sunset are organized from April to September by appointment.
The aperitif takes place between the rows of vines from 18:30 until 24:00 and includes a mixed platter of cold meats, cheeses, bruschetta and other delicacies accompanied by two glasses of wine to choose from the cellar.
The cost is 15 € per person.
Birthday parties, weddings and other events among the rows of vines can be organized on request.
Activities and surrounding
Azienda Agricola La Fonte is located on the beautiful hills of Bevagna, in a panoramic position just a stone's throw from Assisi and Perugia, the capital of Umbria, a university town of great historical and artistic interest and a lively cultural centre.
Among the most important monuments are the Palazzo dei Consoli, dating back to 1270, which currently houses the Teatro Torti; Piazza Silvestri which is among the most important medieval squares in the region where you can find the Church of San Michele, built in the late twelfth century and the church of San Silvestro completed in 1195. In the municipal museum there are paintings of the Umbrian school and valuable sculptures.
Every year, in the last ten days of the month of June, Bevagna returns to being the ancient medieval town. The Market of the Gaite (the old name of the town quarters) proposes again parades, competitions and elaborations of traditional recipes in the classic "Taverne"; everything comes back to life in the suggestion of the period costumes that the citizens dress with festive and nonchalant custom.
From the farm you can also easily reach the main events in Umbria such as Umbria Jazz and Eurochocolate in Perugia, Umbria Jazz Winter in Orvieto, the Calendimaggio in Assisi and many others.
