The Wolf's Lair is located in a scenic spot in front of the Italian Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park in the heart immersed in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility set in a beautiful grove of oaks.
The farm was founded in 1998 and now includes 11 hectares of land, mainly cultivated with cereals, wheat and spelt, in organic farming certified by I.M.C.
Family-run, the place is ideal for young and old, for those who love peace, nature, clean air and healthy eating. The apartments are furnished in a simple and rustic way, with wooden ceilings and fixtures. They are detached from the restaurant and reachable from the outside. In all there are 15 rooms, each with its own service and heating. To fully enjoy the tranquility of the place, there is no television in the room.
The yellow house in the woods, with large veranda, includes 7 rooms, ideal for families of 4 or 5 people or, rented together, for groups: Oak, Broom, Oak, Holm Oak, Butcher's Broom, Juniper and Hawthorn. They are also great for children in summer camps and school groups, for one or more days on the farm.
The masonry bungalows, each with its own entrance and a small veranda, offer quality accommodation in a natural environment. The spectacular view allows you to spend enjoying a good book or a glass of wine. Also furnished in a rustic way, they offer 1 double bed and 1 single bed.
The rustic cottage, type 'Cottage' English, offers even more privacy and is ideal for a small group or a large family. Includes 5 doubles with the names: Moon, Sun, Heart, Clover and Orange.
The restaurant is welcoming and rustic: it includes the fireplace room, where in the cold winter evenings, around the fireplace, you can have a chat with friends or board games, and two rooms where you can enjoy the dishes of the place.Maria Grazia takes care of the simple, genuine and typical cuisine: she prepares and takes care with love and experience of the breakfasts, lunches and dinners for her guests.
In winter, for those who love skiing, in a short time you can reach the lifts of Prati di Tivo and Prato Selva and the waterfalls of the Monti della Laga become beautiful and icy routes for climbing.
In spring, for fishing or canoeing enthusiasts, 5 kilometres away, there is the Vomano, an important river from Abruzzo.
For walkers, hikers and mountaineers, the territory offers routes of all levels, from the simplest walks to the most demanding climbs of mountaineering level.
In summer, the Prato Selva lift turns into a beautiful downhill trail for mountain bikers.
Near the farm, in the village of Poggio Umbricchio, you can practice the sport of 'bouldering.
The farm also has a beautiful panoramic swimming pool to cool off on hot summer days, with views of the Gran Sasso
The location in the middle of the Gran Sasso National Park and the Laga Mountains is ideal for visiting many interesting places, both from a natural and historical-cultural point of view.
In Teramo (20 km away), you can admire Roman archaeological remains, including an amphitheatre and a theatre, a historical mosaic and the Cathedral in mixed Romanesque-Gothic style. At the same distance, Lake Campotosto, the second largest artificial lake in Europe, allows you to practice canoeing and windsurfing. The village of Campotosto is also famous for its cured meats, including the 'Mortadella di Campotosto'.
35 kilometres away, the small village of Castelli is of primary importance in the traditional handicraft activity of Teramo: the working of ceramics. Every year in August Castelli also hosts an art exhibition.
Pietracamela, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, located at 1200 meters above sea level, is located just below the foot of the Gran Sasso. The nearby riding school allows you to take beautiful horseback trails. There are also many small mountain villages above the valley of Vomano, including Piano Vomano with its Cyclopic Walls, Fano Adriano with its beautiful church and San Giorgio with its Rocca Roseto and Piano Roseto, quiet and panoramic place.
At 20 km there is also Cesacastina, with its famous waterfalls of the Valley of the Hundred Sources, to be reached with a beautiful walk of 4 hours round trip.
