Conversano (Bari) Code BA07201951000016764
On the first hills of the Murge region stands Conversano, a town of churches, castles, art and culture. Here you’ll find Masseria Alberotanza, a farmhouse nestled amidst olive and cherry trees, in the Apulia of times past, a place where tradition lives on in this beautiful corner of the Bari countryside.
The farmhouse is an example of both rural and noble architecture, an historic residence dating back to the 1600s, when Apulia was under Spanish domination and the feudal system was in force. During this period, the “Masseria” was a truly self-sufficient rural centre, comprising accommodation, animals (sheep, goats, cows, oxen, horses and barnyard animals), farming equipment and all the provisions necessary for the survival of the hamlet's inhabitants.
Today, following a skilful renovation process, the Masseria offers a warm welcome and a wholesome holiday experience, in beautiful nature, surrounded by age old olive trees and Mediterranean scents and flavours. The guest rooms are tastefully and typically furnished, so come and enjoy a warm welcome from the Alberotanza family, as you soak up the sun and sample fine Apulia food and wine.
You’ll also find a large garden, where you can relax on the English-style lawn in the shade of the olive trees.
Take a stroll through the surrounding countryside to the nearby S. Caterina chapel and S. Vito Lake. As well as hiring bikes to explore ancient farmsteads, ruined churches and typical hamlets, guests can also enjoy cookery classes or visit Polignano a Mare on the Adriatic coast.
Conversano is just one of the cities of art and history just waiting to be explored, but you can’t visit the Murge without also taking a trip to Monopoli, Torrecanne, Ostuni, Alberobello, the Castellana Caves and Bari. Your little ones will love the Zoo Safari in Fasano, and for those who prefer not to venture too far, Matera, Brindisi, Castel del Monte and Lecce are all within an hour or so.
