The agriturismo

In Martano, in the heart of the Grecìa Salentina, Tenuta Campì is set in the Salento countryside, amidst dry stone walls, age-old olive trees, specchie and old farmhouses; it produces oil and wine.

With its 12 bedrooms with barrel vaulted ceilings, breakfast room and outdoor swimming pool, it is a relaxing place all year around and an excellent starting point for getting to the famous local villages, to Lecce and the long beaches of Salento.

The accommodation

The large, bright bedrooms, elegantly decorated with wooden artisanal furniture, have all comforts: “Relais Tenuta Campì” complimentary toiletries, linens, bathroom with shower, hairdryer, LCD TV, air conditioning, safe and mini bar. A patio is furnished with tables and chairs.

 

Buffet breakfast is served in a large room with fireplace, offering a wide selection of local products, like jams, honey, cakes, fruit, yoghurt, milk, tea, coffee and cappuccinos, as well as cold meats, cheeses, bread, tomatoes and much more.

 

The swimming pool, set amidst the olive trees, is open 24/7 and has loungers, deck chairs and some pleasant background music. The range of services on offer is completed by a large private car park and well-tended garden that surrounds the whole agriturismo. A reception area and kind, professional staff give guests a warm welcome and a smile.

 

Activities and surrounding

Besides visiting the farm, guests can also explore an area steeped in history, with monuments dating back to the Messapians, moving through megalithic constructions (dolmens and standing stones) still very much present throughout the region. Salento is a frontier region and many elements bear witness to its history: Norman towers, castles and fortified farmhouses for defence against sea invasions, ancient “specchie” (mounds of earth and stones believed to have been lookout points), “pajare” rural construction and dry stone walls.

The town of Martano is also home to a monastery, a beautiful Mother church, various other churches and a Dominican convent, underground olive mills, courtyard houses, noble residences, a baronial castle and the specchia dei Mori rural construction.

There are many seaside resorts nearby, at Otranto, Laghi Alimini, Torre dell'Orso, Porto Badisco, and many more.
