The agriturismo

In a renovated Salento farmhouse, nestled among 13 hectares of olive trees between Gallipoli and Otranto, the agriturismo serves typical dishes prepared using organic ingredients from the farm itself. Giacomo and Maria offer all their guests a warm family welcome, and are always happy to chat over a glass of wine.

The farm - managed by Giacomo, an agronomist by profession - is organically run and set-up to save energy.

The accommodation

The farmhouse features a beautiful 43 m stone façade and a restaurant with elegant frescos.  Built inside the old tobacco store and stables, the guest rooms have thick walls which ensure an ideal microclimate all year round, as well as wrought iron beds and spacious bathrooms; the Glicine room also offers a fridge and kettle, a whirlpool tub and a corner shower. The apartment with kitchen is perfect for families with children. Outside you’ll find tables and chairs and a gazebo.

 

A buffet breakfast is served, comprising homemade tarts and breads, fruit juice, biscotti, cereal, butter and the agriturismo’s own jams, as well as yoghurt and seasonal fruit. Gluten-free and savoury breakfasts are available on request. For dinner (in the restaurant or outdoors), guests can choose from a selection of dishes: “pomodori schiattariciati” – a delicious “squished" tomato sauce, seasonal vegetables, fresh egg frittata with mint, “parmigianine” – mini versions of the popular parmigiana, “frittini della casa” – house fritters ... followed by an orange or pepper liqueur as a digestif. Guests also have access to the agriturismo’s barbecue, with wood provided free of charge.

 

Activities and surrounding

Activities on offer include jogging and walking, guided excursions by bicycle (available on site) along around 10 km of cycle track, among towering olive trees and underground oil mills; tasting of extra virgin olive oil; olive picking; gathering produce from the vegetable garden and picking the farm's fruit; children's play area; reading in the small library.

Just a short distance away, in addition to the beaches of Otranto and Gallipoli, you’ll find Lecce and the hamlets of Salentinian Greece.
