The agriturismo
Located in the countryside west of Viterbo, between Vetralla and Tuscania, Bicoca is an estate that boasts more than 500 years of history, evidenced by a splendid Renaissance tile found in the Sala Regia of Viterbo's Palazzo Comunale.
Bicoca is home to Volta La Terra, a farm that produces vegetables and grains organically, implements and promotes social farming projects, hosts summer camps and inclusion experiences, makes it come alive with initiatives, events and experiences related to economic, social and environmental sustainability, and organizes refreshments with tastings, dinners and lunches in the farm's indoor and outdoor spaces, all using quality products from the farm and the local area.
The accommodation
To receive guests, the farmhouses that the ancestors of the Ascenzi family had built as shepherds' dwellings and rooms used for cheese production were renovated and converted into apartments and rooms: The farmhouse has 20 beds distributed in five apartments.
The Shepherds' Cottages , where the shepherds once resided for much of the year, are located on a knoll in the center of the countryside, with a 360-degree view of an unspoiled valley of Mediterranean scrub, find the apartments Vergaro, Fontanile (both sleep 4/5) and Caciara (studio apartment).
Also taken over was the farmhouse intended as the home of the herd, inside which is the studio apartment with loft Lavanda (sleeps 2/3) and the double room with bathroom, Oleandro. The strategic location of the farm allows you to discover the surroundings rich in history, culture, art and nature: Viterbo, the Etruscan territories, the volcanic lakes of Bolsena and Vico, the residences of the Farnese family, the Via Francigena, Villa Lante in Bagnaia, the sacred forest of Bomarzo, Tuscania and its churches, parks and nature reserves, as well as the sea of Capalbio and Tarquinia. In addition, from the train station in Viterbo or Orte you can reach Rome and all the places in the very rich center of Italy (of green Umbria and rich Tuscany).
