cascina Giampietro 1 Località Castello, 27046 Santa Giuletta (Pavia)
The agriturismo is a hamlet of rare beauty, enhanced by carefully thought-out restorations and by the owners' desire to return to a natural way of life: the mid-19th century villa has been renovated and furnished with strictly period pieces; its winter garden features cementine tiles from the early 1900s, and the small wine cellar retains a barrel vault ceiling. There is a museum of wine and country life, and a tasting room in the portico overlooking the beautiful hills of the Oltrepò Pavese; the vegetable garden provides "zero millimetre" fresh vegetables; the hen house is home to laying hens and guinea fowl, and there are geese and ducks on the pond. For relaxation, you'll find bocce, and of course fine wine to enjoy.
The two nineteenth-century rooms, designed with total respect for the original architectural features, are furnished with period pieces, with exposed beams to the ceilings, stone walls and wooden floors. On the first floor of this fully-renovated early 1900s farmhouse, you'll find a further three rooms: Giulè, Sara and Vera.
Lula ‘800 is a large suite with private entrance and outside space with sitting area. A traditional copper bathtub, now obsolete, dominates in a corner, pulling guests into a magical atmosphere. Omai ‘800 is a suite with access via a staircase embraced by vines, which opens onto a large portico with table and chairs, overlooking the swimming pool and the rolling hills of the Oltrepò Pavese. Sara ‘900 is cosy and bright, with a striking wrought iron bed and a balcony from which to enjoy beautiful views. Vera ‘900 is the classic granny flat, with scenic views, antique curtains and period furnishings.
Facilities include: Wi-Fi and plentiful parking. On arrival, you'll receive a delicious welcome aperitif, which you can choose from an extensive selection of the farm's own and other local wines. In summer breakfast is served in the open-air museum, under the stone portico; in late autumn and spring, it is served in the traditional-style kitchen, surrounded by nonna's ornaments, with exposed beams and an open fire.
The table, adorned with an antique tablecloth, is filled with the farm's own produce and other zero mile ingredients, from homemade jams to organic honey, warm bread, steaming tarts, typical Pavia cakes, eggs, tea, coffee, apple juice and, for those looking for even more, a triumph of cold cuts You can request a light snack, a country platter of fresh vegetables, chicken, local cheeses, etc., or you can enjoy dinner or taste the farm's wines with the oenologist.
The agriturismo is located in the beautiful hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, an hour from Pavia, in the commune of Santa Giulietta, known for its wine and its dolls.
