The agriturismo

Ancient rural house once used to shelter farm equipment and crops for 4 generations has belonged to our family, the Fontana del Cherubino rises between Etna and the Simeto valley with the aim of promoting the quality extra virgin olive oil and offer guests a quiet and serene environment surrounded by nature , where you can hear the propi footsteps or singing birds or hear the calls of altr wild animals ( peregrine falcon, storks).. foxes and hedgehogs are not difficult to meet .

The accommodation

Strategically placed at the center of the family's other properties, the main building stands in an oasis of peace and tranquility, with a splendid view of the Simeto valley to the south and Etna to the north.

The central building has been renovated and used to welcome guests and their well-being. A large terrace overlooks the peace of the Etna countryside and the Simeto river valley.

There are 5 rooms, all panoramic with small terraces and furnished differently and some with family furniture. There is also a chalet with a kitchen which makes the guest free to prepare meals at home.

A swimming pool carved into the rock can provide refreshment during the hot Sicilian summers, a Mediterranean garden and an Arab aqueduct from 1100 AD enrich our property.

For those interested we have a collection of 40 different olive cultivars and different orange and lemon cultivars.

The company is also a producer of extra virgin olive oil, which comes from the fruits of old Nocellara Etnea trees (some over 100 years old). Cherubino oil is characterized by a very low acidity (about 0.2 percent), has a yellow colour, with clear green reflections, a scent of olives and green tomatoes and is delicate and persistent on the palate, medium fruity and with a slight spicy note in the finish.

We can offer tastings of Wine (nerello mascalese ) olives and oil ( from nocellara dell'Etna ) ,jams ( from oranges and lemons ), olives in salomoia and when available oranges, lemons and fruit all produced by us and that we can ship worldwide by courier by direct order or by mail or phone.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Cherubino Fountain is in an excellent location for excursions to Mount Etna, which can be reached starting from the southern slope of Rifugio Sapienza, about 20 km away. From here it is possible to take the cable car up to the volcano's central crater. Going downstream, on the other hand, it is possible to follow the course of the Simeto River, the most important of the Sicilian rivers, with its characteristic Ponte dei Saraceni and its Forre laviche (Site of Community Interest), to the source in the verdant Nebrodi Mountains.Starting from the Cherubino Fountain, it is also possible to visit several towns on the southern slope of Etna: Paternò, Adrano, Santa Maria di Licodia, with the 18th-century Cherubino Fountain from which Rural Tourism takes its name. Catania is 25 km away, while the sea of the Riviera dei ciclopi is 30 km away.

Etna is also unparalleled territory for its wine and food tourism: Santa Maria di Licodia is one of the most important centers for the production of Etna's PDO extra virgin olive oil, as evidenced by its centuries-old olive trees. Etna's wine places, on the other hand, are represented by the Etna Wine Route, which runs from the port of Riposto to Randazzo.

There is no shortage of other gastronomic excellence in the Etna area, such as oranges, prickly pears, almonds, and pistachios.
