The agriturismo
The farmhouse, in a bright and sunny spot, features stone construction, surrounded by dry stone walls and sprawling age old carob trees, is located in open countryside, a few km from the sea and the baroque monuments of Scicli, Ragusa and Modica.
Accommodation is provided in 10 spacious and elegant rooms, and guests can enjoy typical breakfasts and cookery courses, as well as access to the wellbeing facilities and swimming pool.
The accommodation
Once part of a modest farm, with the buildings used to accommodate labourers and as the owners’ temporary residence, the farm was renovated in 2010, with care taken to use materials and items typical of the Hyblaean region, and a focus on creative recycling and sustainability. The stables, storage rooms and other buildings were transformed into 10 modern guest rooms, each named after a typical farming activity or crop, furnished with items from rural tradition, and including bathrooms with showers, minibars and air conditioning.
There are two interior courtyards with sitting areas and loungers for guests to relax. There is also a separate breakfast area, a shared kitchen, an educational workshop, and a communal lounge with a TV and books on the region.
Sheltered by 4 age old carob trees, the agriturismo also offers a swimming pool with whirlpool and a children’s pool, from which guests can enjoy beautiful views of the carob wood and the sea. The estate is divided into 5 enclosures (marked out by dry stone walls): 3 are laid to pasture and the harvesting of carobs, and 2 make up the garden for use by guests.
Activities and surrounding
The agriturismo offers traditional cookery courses, run by the local “massaias” (country housewives) and based on ancient recipes passed down orally through the generations in line with family tradition.
Guests can enjoy a relaxing, energising or therapeutic treatment, or visit the sea and some of Ragusa's most typical sites just a few km away.

The breakfast was delicious, and loved the different cakes. But we missed salad or any fresh vegetables to have on side. Sliced cucumbers and tomatoes would be sufficient.
