The agriturismo

The ancient 19th century farmhouse, entirely renovated, is set in the splendid context of the Ciane-Saline Nature Reserve and rises a few dozen metres from the Ciane Fountain, praised by Ovid and known throughout the world for being the only existing site (besides the banks of the Nile in Egypt) where the papyrus rises spontaneously. The entire structure houses rare agricultural and artisan equipment, completely renovated, reminiscent of the arts and crafts of the past, as well as an elegant library and a farmers' museum.

The accommodation

This traditional nineteenth century farmstead comprises a main central body of 18 rooms surrounded by typical rural "baglio" dwellings and courtyards. The agriturismo stands nestled in a citrus grove of Sicilian oranges and lemons, 10 hectares of land and sprawling green gardens, home to all kinds of Mediterranean plants and more. Beneath the broad fronds of ficus, mulberry and jacaranda, you can enjoy a drink or read a book, using the tables, chairs and benches provided for guests to relax. You'll also find a pergola formed from local grape vines. All rooms are air conditioned, with mini bars, flat screen satellite TVs and private bathrooms with courtesy toiletries and hairdryers. Some rooms also enjoy their own relaxation area. There's a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a barbecue, a solarium terrace with garden views and free secure parking. The agriturismo also offers an educational farm with horses, local breed donkeys, geese, ducks, goats and hens, who provide fresh eggs daily for guests to enjoy alongside the delicious seasonal produce from the organic vegetable garden.

Activities and surrounding

A few dozen metres from the farm is the famous Fonte Ciane, from which a path branches off along the banks of the river of the same name for about 5 km. The city of Syracuse, a treasure chest of archaeological finds and monuments, is just 9 km away. The renowned Arenella and Fontane Bianche beaches are 9 and 14 km away, while the Protected Marine Area of Plemmirio, with its cliffs, is 11 km away. Unmissable Noto and its baroque buildings 36 km from the farm.
