The Organic Farm Holiday Hiking Centre Casale Camalda is an ancient rural stone mansion on the Appennino Mountains between Florence and Arezzo, into the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park. The farm is situated in a secluted and quiet spot among woods and streams and wolves, red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, wild boars, eagles, squirrels and many other wild animals. Casale Camalda is near the historical Monastery of Camaldoli which can be also reached walking on 3 several comfortable and short paths through the forest.
The hospitality is offered in restored independent flats (Chestnut Drier, Stable and Barn) which were once rural annexes; all of them have kitchen, bathroom and private heating.
A common room with maps, guide books, books about nature and hiking, history and art of the area is available for the guests. Small amusement park for children. The organic farm produces and sells directly fruits, jams and marmalades, honey, wine, olives and oil. English, German and French are spoken. Pets are welcomed.

The owner is a Guide of the National Park and organises excursions and hiking to the wildest and most secluted spots of these mountains and forests. Maps and leaflets and advice and assistance are provided for self-guided tours to the National Park and to the medieval castles, romanic churches, hermitages and monasteries and the historical villages of the Casentino Valley and the whole Tuscany. In July, August, Easter, 1 May: weekly guided naturalistic tours with guides of the Park (free for the Casale Camalda’s guests). Maps and leaflets are provided and advice and assistance for self-guided tours are given. The organic kitchen-garden is at the guest's disposal. The guests can take part in the agricoltural works; selling in farm of organic products. Hearing of the deer roar and their census (in September). Faunal and floral observation.
From Casale Camalda several old and historical paths lead to the Monastery of Camaldoli and are connected to the whole path- network of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park (more than 800 km of signed paths). Three paths all smooth, are extremely interesting from a natural and historical point of view, and because of the landscape you can enjoy walking. Advice and assistance for other interesting excursions to the wildest and secluded spots of the National Park are offered by the owner of Casale Camalda, Ennio Dallari, Guide of the Park. The Hermitage and Monastery of Camaldoli (founded in XI cent.) with the ancient chemistry (6,5 km). The Franciscan Sanctuary and Convent of La Verna (XIII-XVI cent.) (28 km). Medieval castles in Poppi, Romena, Porciano, San Niccolò, Gressa, Montemignaio. Romanic churches in Romena, Strada, Socana, Stia, Montemignaio. Sanctuaries of the Reinassance of Santa Maria del Sasso (12 km) and Santa Maria delle Grazie (22 km). Abbey and Forest of Vallombrosa (where J. Milton wrote his "Paradise Lost" (35 km). Very interesting historical villages: Poppi, Strada, San Niccolò, Sarna, Stia, Pratovecchio, Quota, Raggiolo and many others. Nearby artistic town: Florence, Arezzo, San Sepolcro, Cortona, Siena, Ravenna, Urbino, Perugia, Assisi.
