Bibbiena (Arezzo) Code
The farmhouse offers hospitality in a late 18th-century villa between Florence and Arezzo, near the Casentino Forest National Park, with a heated swimming pool in spring and early fall.
Hospitality is offered in a manor house, built during the 1600s, and then partly modified in the 1800s and expanded in the 1900s. On the front of the villa and on one side is the 19th-century romantic garden, with palm trees, boxwood and laurel hedges, and many other plants.
The farmhouse, surrounded by about 80 hectares of farm-owned land, is located at 450 meters above sea level, in a panoramic, isolated position, about 6 km from the center of Bibbiena, a charming town in the heart of the Casentino valley and not far from the border of the Casentino Forest National Park.
Noteworthy for the Casentino are, among other places: Franciscan Sanctuary of La Verna, Monastery and Hermitage of Camaldoli, Castle of Poppi, Dominican Convent of S.Maria del Sasso, Stia, famous for Casentino fabric, Romanesque parish church of Romena and adjacent Castle, Castle of Porciano, Bibbiena and many small characteristic villages, Romanesque churches and castles.
The most famous and important cities: Florence (65 km), Arezzo (35 km), Siena (110 km), Cortona (55 km), Assisi (130 km), Perugia (120 km).
The farm's territory is varied, and the landscape changes from the typical mid-hills, once cultivated with arable or arboreal crops, to the pasture meadows of the Apennines. The more than 300 hectares of 'natural' forests are rich mainly in oaks, chestnuts, beeches, hornbeams and many other more or less sporadic species, while the approximately 200 hectares of artificial forests, planted from the 1950s until the early 1980s, consist of pines, firs, cedars, cypresses and other conifers.
In the past 10 years, wood arboriculture plantings with different tree species have also been established in order to produce valuable timber, such as cherry, walnut, oak, ash, pear and rowan, totaling about 45 hectares and about 40,000 trees. The land free of forested area consists mainly of pastures.
Just a 15-minute walk from the farmhouse, embedded in the farm property, is a pond for sport fishing.
Guests can alternate days devoted to trips and excursions to the beautiful Casentino valley or to the best-known towns in Tuscany and Umbria with pleasant, quieter days, taking walks in the grounds of the property or relaxing by the pool or in the garden.
