The agriturismo
The Bed and Breakfast "I Due Cipressi" at the Podere Campo Gallina farmhouse offers a rich breakfast buffet, ideal for a tasteful start to the day. The farmhouse has two rooms made out of the old barn. Each room is equipped with a terrace with a private pool.
Nestled on the outskirts of Santa Fiora, in southern Tuscany, Campo Gallina has origins dating back to 1123 and is located at an altitude of about 400 meters. The farmhouse was built in 1824 and the property covers 5 hectares, with about 280 olive trees.
The accommodation
The farmhouse has two rooms that are independent of each other. They were recently renovated in 2023. Bright, spacious and modern, they bear the name UVA and OLIVE; precisely in homage to the fruits of our land.
Both rooms are air-conditioned and include a large sleeping area with a seating area and a coffee/tea corner,
Beds can be arranged according to your preference: a double with double comforter, a double with two single comforters, or two single beds, each with its own comforter. Bed linen and (bath) towels are provided and of high Optidee® quality.
The bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower, double sink, and toilet. UVA has a bidet, OLIVE on the other hand is wheelchair accessible. You'll also find a hair dryer, a closet with hangers, and a drying rack.
In each room there is a refrigerator with a small freezer compartment and bottles of water for the day of arrival.
PRIVATE TERRACE
Each room has a private terrace with pergola, lounge chairs and a private pool (2x3 meters) with sunbeds and umbrella, ideal for enjoying the Tuscan sun, relaxing in the shade or cooling off. From both terraces you can admire a beautiful view of the olive trees and hills.
RICH BREAKFAST
A rich breakfast buffet is served daily on the breakfast terrace, with gluten and lactose-free options also available upon request. You can choose from bread, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt with homemade granola, honey, fresh fruit and orange juice. Upon request, we can also prepare eggs for you. Water is always available and you can order a cup of coffee or tea.
Breakfast is served between 08:00 and 10:30 a.m., with time agreed upon to ensure maximum freshness. After 11:00 a.m., the breakfast terrace is no longer in common use.
The owners, originally from Holland, live on the old farm and are available for any advice.
Activities and surrounding
Santa Fiora is a cozy and picturesque village with about 2,800 inhabitants. In the center is the fishpond with beautiful fish. There are also several bars and restaurants.
Santa Fiora is a mining village. For many years it worked in mercury mines. The mining museum is worth a visit. Miners are still often involved in the various activities in Santa Fiora. The song of the miners resounds through the streets of Santa Fiora.
In and around Santa Fiora you can go hiking and biking. There are several trails that start from Santa Fiora. You can choose the length and commitment of the route.
Santa Fiora is located at the foot of Mount Amiata, an extinct volcano . A visit to Mount Amiata is more than worthwhile. Hiking and biking trails have been laid out here as well . Theski lift takes you to the top of Mount Amiata, where the impressive cross is located . In winter, when there is snow, Mount Amiata invites skiing.
Siena can be reached in a good hour; for the beach, you can choose to go to the coast near Grosseto about an hour's drive away.
The hot springs of Santurnia and San Filippo are nearby, as is Lake Bolsena.
Tuscany would not be such without the wine roads. Think Chianti and Brunello. Montalcino, the home of Brunello, is a short drive away.
In October there is a chance to participate in the olive harvest. For about 3-4 days, we pick the olives and take them to the olive press at the end of the day. We end the day with a visit to the olive press. In the "olive picking" package, a delicious breakfast and lunch is served every day. From 4 p.m. onward, the day is free. Of course, each picker will receive a bottle of olive oil with the oil from the olives he or she harvested.
