The region offers numerous archeological and monumental places of interest that make the Maremma area one of the most beautiful and important in the Nation. The Etruscan necropolis, the colonies used by the Romans and the complex Medieval suburbs like Capalbio, Pitigliano, Sovana or Sorano make it possible to be immersed in the history of the area that offers the visitors fascinating landscapes, shows fortresses, powerful ancient cathedrals, monasteries and abbeys made of stone. Still in the same area, you can find shops with distinctive local wines, typical products like Morellino di Scansano DOC (Controlled Origin Denomination), local extra virgin IGP (Protected Geographic Denomination) olive oils, cheeses and DOP (from Protected Origin) local meats. All year round local festivals offer the opportunity to sample tasty local dishes and rediscover ancient traditions of the area.
