The agriturismo
The story of this agriturismo, nestled in the Cornia Valley, in the Upper Maremma, began when the owner's great-grandfather purchased an old rural house, built in 1936. The family then transformed the croft into a farm, which they have now run for 3 generations, developing it into an agriturismo following official recognition from the province of Livorno and the commune of Campiglia Marittima.
The accommodation
Il Vecchio Podere offers guest accommodation in apartments with views of the garden and the Tuscan countryside, in which you’ll find air conditioning, kitchens with hobs, fridges and dishwashers, TVs and private bathrooms.
Activities and surrounding
The agriturismo is located in Venturina Terme, near the Cornia River, amidst thriving industry, artisan producers, farms, businesses and spa centres. These hot springs, formerly known as Aquae Populoniae, are rich in sulphur, alkali and earth, and flow from two separate sources at a temperature of 36°C at a rate of 12,000 litres per minute. The hot springs spread over around 60,000 square metres and comprise a spa resort (offering soothing muds, baths, massages, whirlpools, aerosols and beauty treatments) and a large thermal pool, known respectively as Bagni di Caldana and the Il Calidario lake, formed from the primitive flood plain.
Just 2 km from the agriturismo you’ll find the Rimigliano Park and the coast, and nearby the Baratti Gulf, Campiglia Marittima, Suvereto, Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci, Piombino, S. Vincenzo and Elba Island too.
