The agriturismo

The agriturismo is located in the middle of the countryside, near an ancient castle, 11 km from Pienza. Until the end of the 1970s, the farm was the centre of a community of around 300 people, with a parish church and a school.

Views of Cosona have been celebrated by cinema, expecially in the Oscar winning movie “The English Patient” by Anthony Minghella.

The accommodation

The agriturismo offers 6 independent apartments: La Quinta, La Scuola, Casa Bruna, Guidoccio, La Cappella and Il Poggiolo. All apartments have a kitchen and green outdoor spaces.

From the beginning of June until the end of September, there is a communal outdoor swimming pool with views of Pienza, the Orcia Valley and Mount Amiata.

The agriturismo is part of the farm of the same name, which produces cereals and PGI extra virgin olive oil. Milk from the sheep is gathered to produce Pecorino di Pienza cheese.

Activities and surrounding

Be sure to take a trip to Pienza, Italy’s first Renaissance city.

Siena and Arezzo are around an hour away by car.

The surrounding area is home to many beautiful hamlets (Castelmuzio, Petroio, Montisi, Trequanda), and parts of the Via Francigena can be accessed and explored on foot around Buonconvento, San Quirico d'Orcia and Bagno Vignoni.

The gardens of Villa La Foce and the Parco della Ragnaia in San Giovanni d’Asso are certainly worth a visit.

Mount Amiata (for winter skiing and summer excursions) is only half an hour away by car.

A long stroll will take you to the frescoed abbey of Sant’Anna in Camprena. A trip to the abbeys of Sant'Antimo (Montalcino) and Monteoliveto Maggiore (Asciano) is also recommended.

The DOCG wines Brunello and Nobile can be sampled in the cellars of Montalcino and Montepulciano.

The spa centres of Bagno Vignoni, Rapolano and Chianciano Terme are all easily accessible.

Cosona is ideal for excursions on foot, by mountain bike or by moped.
