Agriturismo Il Grande Portico

The Grande Portico, is located just 8 km from the historic center of Vicenza, in an area of archeological and environmental importance. Since 2001 this farmhouse offers comfortable sojourns to both tourists and workers in the name of quality and relax, proposing its accommodations and cuisine, educational activities and sales of cured meats.

The farmhouse center is located in a farmhouse from the 1700 and was skilfully restored in a harmonious play of forms and colors. In the garden the tree species typical of the area create quiet and evocative corners, all carefully tended. They were even awarded by the CSQA (certificate entity) the Quality Farmhouse seal, which distinguishes the farmhouses that adhere to the “Terranostra” association, who are involved in guaranteeing the quality in welcoming guests and the exclusive local farming of all products offered to clients.

This agriturismo offers breakfast in 9 rooms and 2 mini apartments with equipped kitchens. All accommodations have a private bath with hair dryer, TV, ADSL-free, and air conditioning. The rooms are located on the upper floor, where the hay loft was once found. The furnishings are Veneto-style, with rich drapery. Two rooms are particularly suited to family units. The dining room occupies the portico, once open but now closed off by large windows. Breakfast, served under the portico, allows guests to savor cakes, jams, and cold meats made on premises while admiring the lush garden.

During the week, lunch or dinner is not served, but there is a list of typical trattorias and restaurants. Following the rhythm of the seasons, this farmhouse offers select dishes, starting with ingredients mainly from the farm. In the agriturismo you’ll find a small bookcase with guides for the area, tourist-information brochures, books on architecture and local traditions.
The farmhouse was founded at the beginning of the previous century. Oxen, ducks, chickens, and rabbits are raised on site. Pig farming allows for the production of salami and cold meats. Fresh vegetables are grown in the garden and enrich the menu. The fruit grove offers apricots, peaches, apples, pears, and kiwis, for homemade cakes and jams.

The agriturismo provides free of charge bicycles to reach the nearby hills to discover nature and sports trails or the ancient Roman aqueduct, the area of the resurgences, Villa Caldogno, the Grappa museum with the ancient distillery at Costabissara… In the area you may also find: playgrounds for children, indoor swimming pools, baths, tennis courts, gold club, sport fishing, and riding stables.

In a few minutes you may reach the historic center of Vicenza and visit the Teatro Olimpico, the Palladian Basilica and the Rotonda. The agriturismo is located in a strategic position that allows you to easily reach (by car or train) the UNESCO art cities: Vicenza (Palladio), Padua (Giotto), Verona (Arena), Treviso and the towns of Marostica, Thiene, Bassano del Grappa and Asolo and Lake Garda, the amusement park Gardaland.

The farmhouse proposes educational activities for kindergarten and elementary school children. The agriturismo also organizes wedding banquets that satisfy every need. A rich buffet welcomes guests in the garden or in a gracious room with a fireplace.
