The agriturismo

The farm is 150 m asl on a promontory with terraces, pine forest, woods where foxes, migratory birds and the church of S. Maria della Serra (17th cent.) can be observed. The managers are among the founders of the Diversity in Concert Network, which unites producers of agricultural and food excellence in the area.

The estate covers 12 hectares with 540 hundred-year-old olive trees tended according to organic regulations. Crops also include barley, spelt, wheat, potatoes, legumes, artichokes, turnips, tomatoes, eggplant, and fennel. Organic fertilizers and plant, mineral and animal pesticides are used.

The accommodation

We offer 2 flats with kitchen, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, and private outdoor area; 2 rooms with bath. One flat is for the physically challenged, and all have air conditioning and blow dryer.

Plus, we offer a real trullo from which you may admire the splendid view up to Greece and Albania: it is simple but traditional and quite evocative, with bath and kitchen in an annex.

 

Our restaurant offers traditional Salento food, with ingredients grown onsite, like our organic oil D.O.P. Terra d’Otranto, homemade bread with our barley and wheat, Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera and Primitivo wines made onsite with local grapes. Fresh fish only.

Activities and surrounding

Ruffano is in the heart of Salento, 10 km from the sea at Tricase and 15 km from Gallipoli. Here you may admire the menhir at Cardigliano, the Castello dei Brancaccio (1626) with a loggia and the Chiesa Marice (XVIII cent.).

The Salento is a land rich in traditions, feasts, religious events. Lecce (42 km) offers many baroque art treasures and the Church of Santa Croce.
At Otranto don’t miss the historic center with its watchtowers that in the past protected the town from the Turks. 

Santa Cesarea Terme, Tricase and Castro are examples of marine architecture as a counterpoint to the villas of Santa Maria di Leuca. We also offer a fishing boat for excursions.
