Agriturismo Pianconvento

The farmhouse Pianconvento is located in the Emilia Romagna region, close to the border with Tuscany. It lies beneath a beautiful pinewood inside the farm, witch products DOC Sangiovese wine, surrounded by green pastures and delightful fields of wheat and herbs.

Everything is as it used to be, including the building materials that correspond to the principles of ecological design. The old stonewalls found under the plaster were brought to sight and they are, in all their beauty, the proof of the ingenuity of the poor people of the region. They managed to build houses with big and small stones, which they found on the spot.

At present there are 5 bedrooms:
The Ginestra room: this is the room on the ground floor, suitable also for guests with special needs. It lies next to the restaurant and makes use of the service bathroom on the same floor. It has stonewalls, terracotta tile floor, wooden-beams (treated with natural resins) ceiling. From here you can reach the lawn directly through a French window.
The other rooms are one the first floor. They all have different sizes and the furniture is particular. There are two panoramic windows, wooden-beam ceilings and parquet flooring.
The Imperiale room: it is equipped with a big loft, and half of the walls in stone. It has one double and two singles beds, wardrobe, an old iron sink, an armchair and a small bathroom.
The Margherita room: it has a double bed with a wrought iron headboard, wooden staves and latex mattresses, as well as a big bathroom.
The Pervinca room: very big stonewalled room with an iron double bed, wooden staves and latex matteresses, and one three-quater bed.
The Nido room: this is the smallest room with a double bed or, when required, two single beds, furnished with a chest of drawers and a niche in the wall for clothes. On the same floor, there is a big bathroom with a window, to be used by the Pervinca and Nido rooms.

There is also a multipurpose room / gym 80 sqm (available from August 2010).

The cuisine cares a lot to rescue old savours. The family does everything and the menu includes typical traditional dishes, even old ones with the use of field herbs, which the owners harvest in spring. The raw material have a good quality and comes from the territory with biological production methods. The meat comes from animals, bred outside by neighbouring farmers, who guarantee the requirement of natural breeding. There is a 500 sqm vegetable garden, which during the warm season allows to produce tomatoes, beans, onions, carrots, celery, chard, salad, radicchio, baby marrows, peas, potatoes, etc, During the cold months, are grown cardoons, leaks, chard and radicchio. With fruits production are made marmalades, which are the base for cakes. Fruits: blackberries, raspberries, apricots, apples, quinces, grapes, khakis, figs, cherries and before long pears and plums too. It is also offered a menu based on mushrooms and game: wild boar and deer, upon request made on the roasting jack. Typical dishes: “Tortelli sulla lastra” and fires “piadina”.
