Via Lama, 2500, Maserno 41055 Montese (Modena)
The agriturismo (classified “4 sunflowers”, an agriturismo classification system like hotel stars), is located on the road which leads from Montese to the hamlet of Maserno. Il Palazzino is the result of an eco-friendly recycling and recovery project, and features period furniture restored by the owner.
In the kitchen, Chiara uses the farm’s own ingredients, from vegetables to potatoes, walnuts dried in the sun, quinces, forest fruits, and chestnuts still dried over embers in a typical Tuscan drying shed in the woods. The cuisine is closely linked to the ingredients produced on the farm, and typical of the local area, and inspired by local culinary tradition. Guests can purchase jams, Montese potatoes, type 0 white flour, wholemeal flour, tomato passata, walnuts, biscotti and apple vinegar.
Guest accommodation is provided in 4 rooms, each with 2-3 beds, a private bathroom, independent heating, TV and safe. The classroom (which also serves as a meeting room) is ideal for the activities on offer on the educational farm.
In the garden you’ll find a small children’s play area, a gazebo for the adults to enjoy outdoor drinks and snacks and an amateur fishing lake.
Around 1.5 km away, on high ground, the Monteaurigola guesthouse is a building which dates back to the 1700s, renovating using green building techniques, with traditional materials and a focus on energy saving. Here there are six apartments, one of which is equipped for disabled guests, and one room with bathroom.
