Agriturismo Podere Le Ghiande

The farmhouse is a typical Tuscan country house, surrounded by gardens and immersed in a sea of natural meadows and Mediterranean woods, in an area made unique by the combination of hills, small mountain reliefs, villages and vegetation.

It lies high in the hills (720 m. above sea level) in the middle of the Monte Penna Regional Nature Park, suspended between the Val d'Orcia and the Maremma.

Nearby you can go horseback riding or biking, or indulge in some genuine food in one of the typical restaurants selected by the agriturismo for its guests.

The complex consists of a central structure "Il Podere" and two outbuildings "Il fienile " and "Il Granaio."
Our accommodation capacity is 25/30 beds and is divided into 10 three-room and two-room apartments.

Two-room apartment: Granaio 9-10-11 (living room with kitchenette and double sofa bed, double bedroom and bathroom with shower).

Three-room: Podere 1-2 (living room with kitchenette, double bedroom, twin bedroom and bathroom with shower); Barn 6 (living room with kitchenette, two double bedrooms and bathroom with shower); Barn 7 (living room with kitchenette, double bedroom with private bathroom and shower, large bedroom with double bed and sofa bed separated by a closet and private bathroom with shower).

All apartments have outdoor space with related furniture and the kitchens are fully equipped.
On the property there is a swimming pool (15x8 mt.) organized with solarium and outdoor furniture, indoor parking and a barbecue area.

You can take guided tours of the farm and taste their products through organized tours either with transfert or with your own vehicle. Or stay on the farm and have a tasting in our lounge or by the pool with an expert sommelier who will guide you through the knowledge of these four excellences.

Castell'Azzara city of truffles. If you are interested in discovering the world of this prized product of the earth, it is possible to do so with the help of expert truffle hunters in the area who will take you with their dogs in search of truffles, revealing the secrets of the search and the finest flavors of the palate.

It is possible to rent, in an affiliated center, E-bikes and mountain bikes for excursions in the countryside immersed in an unspoiled territory all to be discovered in full respect of the environment. It is also possible to take guided tours to discover the most beautiful and hidden places in the area.

Hiking Trails
If you want to immerse yourself in the green of our landscapes, it is possible to do so through the very long network of trails that also cross our farmhouse, with the possibility of also being accompanied by a certified environmental guide.

Visits to mines and sites of historical interest
In the municipality of Castell'Azzara, one of the most important mining poles in Europe for mercury extraction was active until the 1960s. It is possible to take guided tours inside the 3 sites: Cornacchino Mine, Siele Mine, Morone Mine, and the museum within the town.

Visit to Rocca Silvana
Remains of an ancient medieval palace-fortress bulwark of the Aldobrandeschi first, the Republic of Siena (14th) and the Orsini of Pitigliano (16th) later.

Visit to Grotta del Sassocolato
An important site of geological interest, it is a natural cavity of tectonic-marine-karst origin containing numerous concretions that descend along the inner walls of the cave. Inhabited by a conspicuous colony of Chiroptera (bats of 12 different species) that reaches a total of 2000/2500 individuals in the summer. Their presence is an unmistakable symptom of habitat purity, and their preservation is a primary goal of the staff in charge of protecting the site.
