Loc. Gello di sopra, 119 -, Camaiore 55041 Camaiore (Lucca) Code 046005AAT0008
An open door for pilgrims, going on the pilgrimsway, called the Via Francigena, since the 18th century, as well as an open door for those, who are in search of peace and serenity today. The farm, situated between the Versilian region and the Apuan Alps, is located in the Seimiglia territory, which abounds with history and tradition. It is the same peasant traditions which the farm pursues on its land which is cultivated according to biodynamic methods and procedures. Every day, fresh vegetables are being harvested, which our guests can enjoy by tasting them prepared according to traditional and local recipes. Elena looks forward to introduce you into the secrets of her pasta menues and home-made bread. While the three children wait for you with a big smile on their faces, Federico, the caretaker of the land and animals, takes you with him on an expedition in the uncontaminated environment, where you can go for a walk or simply relax.
To arrive at the farm Nico, situated in the old district of Gello di sopra, you take a gravel road, which is situated in the middle of greenwood and the tranquility of the forest, between vineyards and olive groves. Our guests can choose between a stay in one of the two double rooms or both
The room Borlotto brings you back in the olden days with its tradition furniture and a rocking chair, where you can relax in company of a good book, which is at your disposal in a big chest.
The room Cannellino faces the hillside which surrounds the agritourismus, immersed in the quiet of nature.
It is possible to add cot and bed for children and to use the kitchen during the day and during the evenings meals when we cannot due to family commitments or to farmer market until the time of dinner....
to use the kitchen during the day and during the evenings when we cannot cook due to family or work commitments ..
Every detail is important, which is why every room disposes of household linen produced by a small company of the area. Also the soaps are all natural and produced by locals.
Whether in the dining room or outside, the rich breakfast offers home-made cookies and bread, accompanied by delicious marmalade, fresh fruit of the season, bio-butter or Garfagnana-butter, biological honey, tea, milk or coffee.
The dining-hall’s convivial atmosphere is characterized and created by its big wooden table and ancient as well as homely furniture.
It is here, where our guests can taste the traditional dishes prepared by Elena in the evening. She uses only fresh vegetables which are either the biodynamic farm’s own production (located in Saltocchio near to Lucca) or products bought at the local peasant market.
There is no fixed menu; the land and the season propose what you will eat, offering the possibility to create a special menu according to the needs. Everything is being accompanied by biological oil of our own production as well as by biodynamic wine of the Lucca hills.
Usually, one day in the week , during the summer is dedicated to the pizza, its dough made and kneaded by hand and baked in a wood stove; an evening in company a bit different from the common evenings. Families are always welcome: the accommodation offers a lot of room outside where children can play safely.
Round the house, you can find the typical olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees, where the parents can relax and the children can enjoy playing with the numerous toys and in the different places which are at their disposal, for example a swing, a sandbox and a small pool in the summer season.
Immersed in nature in a hilly area, surrounded by a green forest, the farmhouse Nicobio offers the possibility in a single day to go from the peaks of the Apuan Alps to the sea of Versilia passing by cities such as Lucca and Pisa.
Children can play outdoors in the playground, swim in the small pool or have fun building castles in the sand. They can collect fresh eggs or feed the rabbits, under the careful supervision of the big dog Tobia, a four-legged guardian always looking for a cuddle. You can also visit Eva Luna and Galileo, the two friendly donkeys who, if necessary, can become travelling companions along ancient mule tracks.
The kitchen is open for those who, on request, want to learn the art of kneading with Elena. Even children can participate, knead their hands and cook with mom and dad.
In addition, guests can visit the cultivated fields of the organic farm in Saltocchio, near the historic houses of Lucca and along the road of Oil and Wine of the hills of Lucca. Here for those who want to participate in the collection activities, even with children.
The territory of the Seimiglia, in which the farmhouse is located, offers routes to do on foot starting from the farm. Maps of the local trails and contacts with environmental hiking guides will be available. Trekking routes in the Apuan Alps and Alta Versilia can be reached in about 20 minutes by car. There are also short routes to do with children in backpacks or on foot.
About 20 km away is the coast of Versilia with its sea and typical villages such as Pietrasanta, Seravezza and Stazzema, cities rich in art, history and culture.
Lucca, just a few kilometres away is the nearest city of art, famous for its ancient medieval walls. From there Pisa and Florence are easily reachable by train, as well as the Cinque Terre, really unmissable.
The park of San Rossore and Massaciuccoli offers guided tours for families, to discover the flora and fauna that characterizes the area.
For the younger ones, you can easily reach the Pinocchio Park, near Collodi, where children can relive the adventures of the famous puppet, in the company of the characters from the book. Also worth mentioning is the beautiful park of Villa Garzoni, recently restored and open to the public, which houses the charming Butterfly House.
