The agriturismo
Surrounded by greenery between the Trebbia and Tidone Valleys, among castles and beautiful hills, the farm is made up of a rural courtyard on which the main house, the old stables and the hayloft stand. The buildings are thought to date back to 1700, due to the structure of the house and the presence of an underground icebox, both of which have now been fully renovated.
The accommodation
The structure has three large triple rooms with private bathroom.
The kitchen offers traditional Piacenza dishes prepared with organic farm produce, from meat from the farm to freshly picked vegetables from the garden. The food for the animals and vegetables comes from the fields. The use of natural fertilizers and the non-intensive and manual processing guarantee the quality of the crops.
The ingredients that are not produced directly are traceable and supplied by local farms or cooperatives in accordance with the "km 0" philosophy. The proposals follow the seasonality and the menus change according to the raw materials available.
In the spring and summer season it is possible to spend the cool evenings outdoors under a porch and enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside.
Activities and surrounding
As well as a range of barnyard animals (a horse, donkeys, ducks, hens, rabbits...), the farm also rears Limousin cattle in a completely organic process, which are then supplied to the Bio Piace consortium or butchered for use by the agriturismo or for direct sale.
Since 2012, the farm has been involved in the “Gli orti di nonna Nanda” project (Grandma Nanda’s vegetable gardens): participants receive a small section of land for free, where they can create their own vegetable garden using the farm's equipment, water and benefitting from the farm team’s expertise. The farm shop sells fruit, vegetables, jams, preserves, and upon booking can also prepare fresh pasta, tarts, beef, chicken and rabbit.
Worth a visit in the surrounding area are the Rio Gandore, formerly used to store gunpowder, and now a natural paradise home to many species of animal, and the Trebbia River Park, a protected natural oasis spread over around 4000 hectares.
