The agriturismo

Ancient farmhouse (4 km from Vaglio Basilicata) renovated respecting the materials of tradition (exposed stone). Around there is an oak forest, perfect for relaxation and for walks that can also lead to the excavations of Serra di Vaglio.

The accommodation

Agriturismo La Dimora dei Cavalieri offers 5 rooms: two doubles, one triple and two family rooms, sleeping up to 4. Each room is cozy and furnished in arte povera style, with private bathroom and TV.

The restaurant, with a capacity of 100 covers, has separate rooms for groups seeking more tranquility. Here you can enjoy traditional dishes such as lagane e ceci, ricotta ravioli, white lamb in a potato crust, and pecorino and ricotta cheese from Neviera. All products are fresh and mostly zero-mile.

The sheep and goat farm is famous for the White Lamb, a suckling lamb fed on the farm's grains and fodder, ensuring high quality meat. Ricotta and cheeses are prepared using traditional cheesemaking techniques. For focaccia and pasta, flour from Senatore Cappelli wheat, produced directly on the farm, is used. The wine served is an Aglianico del Vulture, while lentils, chickpeas and potatoes come from nearby Terre di Braida.

From June to September, most of the vegetables and greens are zero-mile, and guests can pick their favorite produce directly from the garden. Meals end with rosoli made by Nonna Maria!

Activities and surrounding

One can participate in the company's activities. Don't miss Grancia Park, where you can watch the Bandit History show, and the Lucanian Dolomites where, starting from Castelmezzano or Pietrapertosa, you can take the Flight of the Angel, a high-speed crossing of the valley that simulates bird flight. Worth visiting are the villages of Castelmezzano, Pietrapertosa and Acerenza (all belonging to the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy) and the medieval towns of Vaglio and Cancellara. The location is perfect for trips to Matera, Melfi, Venosa, Castel Lagopesole, the waterfalls of San Fele, and the lakes of Monticchio, all within an hour's drive.
